Logging is a gathering Trade Skill in New World. This skill allows players to gather all types of wood and sap resources from Trees across Aeternum.
By leveling this skill up, players will be able to obtain higher-tier resources from different types of trees. These can then be used for crafting different kinds of equipment such as weapons or armor.
Read on for a step-by-step guide on how to level up the Logging Trade Skill as quickly as possible.

Cut Down Young Trees
Focus on Windsward
|
From Levels 0 to 50, the only Trees you can cut down are Young Trees. These trees provide between 38-146 Logging XP depending on their thickness, so attempt to focus on larger trees to maximize the experience gained. Make sure you've equipped at least an Iron Logging Axe to speed up this process.
You'll also notice Bushes provide Green Wood, but they do not provide any increase to your Logging so you can avoid gathering them.
Young Trees: Locations and Maps
While you can cut down trees near any Settlement, it's recommended that you log primarily in Windsward. It's best to stick to this region since you'll have easy access to higher-level trees when increasing later Logging levels.

Cut Down Mature Trees
Stay in Windsward
|
Once you've hit Level 50, you can start cutting down Mature Trees. These provide 175 Logging XP, which isn't a significant jump from the maximum XP provided by Young Trees. This means you should continue logging Young Trees along with the newly accessible Mature Trees to reach Level 100 as quickly as possible.
Mature Trees: Locations and Maps
Mature Trees will be found in the same area as Young Trees, so you won't need to leave Windsward to continue leveling up. You'll most likely have access to Logging Perks at this point, so be sure to equip them to further speed up your process.

Cut Down Wyrdwood Trees
Windsward Logging Trail
Hunt Tundra Elementals
|
Upon hitting Level 100, you'll be able to cut down Wyrdwood Trees. The smallest size of these provides 139 Logging XP while the largest provides 828 Logging XP. While there's a noticeable jump in experience gained between the two sizes, don't focus on just logging larger-sized Wyrdwood Trees since they have lengthy respawn times.
Try to clear an area of Wyrdwood Trees first, then cut down Mature and Young Trees while waiting for them to spawn. You'll be able to track them once you hit Level 125, which will make this process easier.
Wyrdwood Trees: Locations and Maps
There are two spawn points of Wyrdwood Trees near Windsward's Settlement. This opens up a trail to follow that will allow you to gain a lot of Logging experience.
Starting from the Settlement, proceed to the Wyrdwood Trees spawn point to its south. Once you've cleared this area, you can continue to the spawn point to the Settlement's east. Along the way, you can cut down any trees you come upon to gain extra experience. Once you've cleared the second area and returned to the Settlement to drop off wood to your storage, trees in the first area will have respawned. Repeat this process to hit Level 175 in no time.
Along with Wyrdwood Trees, you can gain Logging experience by hunting Tundra Elementals that you come across in Aeternum. Upon defeating them in combat, you'll notice that instead of requiring Skinning, they'll either require Mining or Logging. All Elementals in Great Cleave require mining so avoid hunting them here if you solely want to focus on increasing Logging.
These provide a big boost to your Logging levels since they give 828 Logging XP, equivalent to the maximum given by cutting down Wyrdwood Trees. Make sure your overall level is high enough, however, since they can be tough to fight.

Cut Down Ironwood Trees
Focus on Edengrove
|
The final Tree type unlocked in Logging is the Ironwood Tree, which can be cut down upon reaching Level 175. These provide 690-5513 Logging XP, providing a significant boost experience gained per tree logged. Their respawn time is also similar to Wyrdwood Trees. Make sure to primarily focus on cutting them down for these final levels, since lower-level trees will not give enough experience at this point.
Ironwood Trees: Locations and Maps
You'll have to leave Windsward if you want to easily log Ironwood Trees since they only have one spawn point in that region. The best place to find these trees is in the region of Edengrove.
There are several clusters near the Settlement that are all close together, so by the time you clear the area and return to your Settlement to drop off wood, they'll have begun to respawn.
As soon as you obtain an axe in New World, you can begin cutting down trees to increase your Logging. However, Wood will start to pile up in your inventory as you zealously chop down Aeternum's flora. Stick to the trees near your settlement to quickly offload your inventory, allowing you to keep logging and earning trade skill EXP.
A good way to speed up leveling up logging and gathering wood is to equip items with Logging Perks. Particularly helpful perks would be Lumberjack's Discipline, which provides 3% more logging experience, and Logging Yield, which provides 10% more resources gathered.
Logging Efficiency | Logging speed increased by 5% - 25% |
---|---|
Reinforced Logging Luck | While Logging, gain 2% chance at finding rare items. |
Lumberjack's Discipline | Gain 3% more logging experience. |
Woodworking Accumulation | 2% increase yield when woodworking. |
Adored Logging Luck | While Logging, gain 5% chance at finding rare items. |
Lumberjack's Burden | Reduce the weight of wood, timber, and logging axes by 5%. |
Logging Yield | Logging yields 10% more resources. |
Logging Luck | While logging, gain 2% chance at finding rare items. |
Logging Efficiency | Logging speed increased by 5% - 25% |
Since the only way to level up Logging is by cutting down trees, player options are pretty limited when it comes to leveling it up. From levels 0-49, you will only be able to cut down Young Trees.
Make it easier on yourself by upgrading from your Flint Tools. Grab higher tier Logging Axes from the Trading Post or craft one yourself via your settlement's Workshop to help speed up the logging process.

As you gain Territory Standing, you will be given the choice to pick a Territory Standing Bonus at level up. Choose the Gathering Speed bonus to make Logging quicker in the region you're in!
The easiest part about leveling up Logging is how abundant trees are wherever you are in Aeternum. Make it a point to cut down even just a couple of trees while you trek from region to region finishing quests. This allows you to multitask and speed up your leveling process.
Proficiency Boosters will allow you to gather even more wood from trees, letting you reach whatever amount you need much quicker. These Boosters increase the number of resources obtained using tools, so this will also benefit your other Trade Skills.
