checkmark iconSalvage Unwanted Weapons

Weaponsmithing will be one of the easier trade skills to quickly level up. It's as simple as crafting your preferred weapon in bulk and watching those levels go up!

Given that there isn't a big EXP difference between crafting high-resource items (like Great Axes) versus low-resource items (like the Rapier), it really will just boil down to crafting items you can potentially use or sell.

checkmark iconBulk Craft Low-Tier Gloves or Gauntlets.

Unlike weaponsmithing, Armoring can be a bit tricky to level up. Crafting full sets of armor just won't cut it. To maximize the amount of EXP gained from your resources, bulk craft low-tier gloves or gauntlets. Either will work for the purposes of leveling up.

Do note that using one over the other will raise different gathering skills. When crafting gloves, you'll mostly be leveling up your Harvesting. With gauntlets, you'll be leveling up your Mining.

You can level up Engineering by crafting anything under its skill tree. Crafting Tools, in particular, is a good way to start leveling up your engineering skill as they double as good items to sell at the Trading Post.

However, tempting as it is to rake in money from sold tools, one of the easiest and quickest ways to level up Engineering is to craft low-tier spears. Since it mostly relies on wood planks as its primary material, competition for resources will be almost non-existent. Bulk craft spears and watch your levels go up!

checkmark iconUse High Tier Arcane Repository.

Unlike the previous three, Arcana is very easy to level up due to the abundance of resources and items you can craft as you go up in level and item tier. The key to getting easy Arcana EXP is to level up your harvesting skill until you can start gathering magical plants en masse!

From level 0-20, farm Hyssop and combine it with Water to get a ton of health potions. At level 20, start converting Elemental Motes into Wisps. This is guaranteed to carry you all the way to 50 without breaking a sweat.

checkmark iconBulk Craft Flawed Amulets.

You'll need to do two things to easily level up Jewelcrafting: power level your mining skill and buy/craft a pickaxe that has the Mining Luck perk. Doing these will help you collect the rare gems that drop from ore veins.

After that, it's as simple as bulk crafting flawed amulets until you're at a high enough level to progress up the jewelry tiers.

checkmark iconUse High Tier Kitchens

Cooking is an outlier in that we advocate buying resources from the Trading Post as a viable strategy to level it up. For newer players, cooking will be a bland affair since you'll be lacking the necessary spices and special ingredients to make something better than a travel ration.

Literally spice it up by buying ingredients from the trading post since a lot of these can only be found within certain regions of the map. Use the kitchen and start pumping out dishes to raise this trade skill's level.

Like the other trade skills, Furnishing will have you crafting furnishings to level up. A good, early strategy to follow is crafting the small and cheap furnishings until you hit level 20 in mining. After that, craft Warm Iron Sconces until you get to 50.

Other than that, prepare to salvage most of the things you craft to get some resources back. After all, what house needs 50 sconces?

How to Get Started

Unlock Crafting at the Starter Beach

New World - Craft Flint Tools at the Starter Beach

Crafting will be available as early as the starter beach. Head towards your region's Watchtower and interact with the NPC there. A series of quests should familiarize you with the basics of crafting.

For now, you'll only be able to make Flint Tools and gather the most basic of materials. Progress through the story to see more of the crafting system.

Begin by Gathering Resources

New World - Gather Resources

In New World, a crafted item's quality depends on your Crafting Skill level. Better gear and items will need higher skill levels to craft, and the only way to raise your Crafting Skill is by crafting a lot of items.

To prepare, players will need to farm a lot of raw materials using their Gathering Skills and the appropriate tools for each.

Refine Your Raw Materials

New World - Refine Your Resources

With your raw materials gathered, it's time to start refining them into crafting materials. Take your gathered resources to the appropriate crafting station to start refining them into usable crafting material.

Note: Refining materials in settlements will cost you money! The amount depends on the settlement's refining tax. To view the tax rate, hit M to bring up the map and select your current settlement. A summary on the right side of the screen should display it.

Craft Items to Gain Crafting XP

The Crafting Process
1 Select the item you want to craft from the crafting menu found at the right side of the crafting screen. You can craft all the items listed in white text.
2 Use different kinds of resources. When crafting, players can use higher tier resources depending on what is being asked for. Select the dropdown menus to view if you can use better materials before crafting.
Note: Most of the time, all this will do is increase the gear score and a few stats. Consider holding off on using better materials until you have a higher crafting skill level.
3 Add special resources or Azoth. This step is optional. However, adding special resources ensures you get its specified perk, while adding Azoth guarantees that your crafted item will have perks or gem slots.
4 Review the potential Gear Score, stats, and perks of your crafted item. If you're satisfied, hit the blue crafting button.
Note: You can also opt to bulk craft items if you're farming crafting EXP. Drag the slider on top of the crafting button to select how many items you plan to craft.

Crafting Unique Items

New World - Craft Unique Items

When crafting or bulk crafting items, you will have a chance to create a unique item. These are items that do not appear in the crafting menu screen and can only normally be obtained as enemy drops.

Note: This is a very rare occurrence. Do not bank on this being an effective money-making scheme as it is an unreliable mechanic.
