Gypsum is a new endgame system that arrived with Update 1.2 on December 16, 2021 that adds guaranteed Expertise progression for Level 60 players. This guide will show you how to use Gypsum and how to get each Gypsum type in the game. Read on to learn more!

1 | Head over to any of the following high-level regions: Ebonscale Reach, Reekwater, Shattered Mountain, Edengrove, or Great Cleave. |

2 | Interact with the Tier 5 Gypsum Kiln found in the settlement or outpost. |
3 | Use collected Gypsum to craft a Gypsum Orb. Each Gypsum type will require a different amount when crafting an Orb. |
4 | Use the crafted Gypsum Orb to craft any of the Gypsum Equipment Casts. Each cast can only be crafted once every 24 hours*. |
5 | Open up the crafted Gypsum Cast to increase the Expertise Level of the chosen armor, trinket, or weapon type. |
The cooldown on crafting a certain cast is a full 24 hours and not a global reset.

Obsidian Gypsum can be acquired by defeating level 60+ open world named bosses. Do note that the gypsum drop is not guaranteed, sometimes requiring multiple runs at a boss to obtain 3.
While Elite Landmarks are the best for continuous farm, the easiest 60+ open world boss to farm as a solo would be Ivan the Inevitable in Ebonscale Reach. He can be found inside the church of Skysong Crypt.

Sapphire Gypsum will drop once players defeat either of the final bosses of The Lazarus Instrumentality and Garden of Genesis expeditions. Run any of the two to get Sapphire Gypsum.

Ruby Gypsum can be obtained by completing Outpost Rush matches. Players can queue up for a match by speaking to their respective Faction Representative within the settlement.
Note: Players will need to place high in the match rankings to receive both Outpost Rush Caches and a Ruby Gypsum reward. Too little of a contribution will not give any rewards or Gypsum.

Update 1.2 introduced the Trade Skill Aptitude System. This new mechanic grants trade skill XP beyond Level 200, with rewards given for every 1/3 marker of of the Aptitude XP wheel.
Reaching a marker will instantly grant players an Emeral Gypsum along with a Trade Skill Aptitude Cache. Progress each 200 trade skill in order to continue earning more Emerald Gypsum.

Citrine Gypsum can be earned by completing Arenas in New World. There are a total of 3 Arenas as of Update 1.2 that players can complete in order to earn Citrine Gypsum.

Amethys Gypsum can be found by closing Level 60+ Corrupted Breaches. Party up with a large group and clear high-level corrupted breaches in Ebonscale Reach, Reekwater, or Shattered Mountain to earn this Gypsum type.

Topaz Gypsum can be found by consuming a Topaz Gypsum Attunment Potion crafted at a Tier 5 Camp. Upon drinking, players will be given 60 minutes to kill level 55+ enemies.
Each kill will have a chance to drop Topaz Gypsum. This type will max out at 10 per day, so make sure to pay attention to drops to avoid missing one.

Diamond Gypsum can only be obtained during Special Events in New World. The current special, limited time event is the Winter Convergence Festival introduced by Update 1.2.
Players looking to maximize the Diamond Gypsum earned for this event will need to log-in daily from December 16, 2021 to January 11, 2022. Interact with 3 different Tree of Lights each day of the event to earn this Gypsum Type.
