The Trade Skill Aptitude System is a brand new progression system introduced in Update 1.2. It targets players with level 200 trade skills, offering XP gain and special Aptitude Reward Caches beyond the level cap.
In an effort to bolster end-game content, the new system offers both progression and rewards for crafting-oriented players with maxed out trade skills.
Crafting Guide: How to Level Trade Skills Fast
The rewards players receive when opening Aptitude Reward Caches will be relevant to the leveled-up trade skill. The amount and rarity of the rewards received will increase per Aptitude Marker in the XP Wheel.
For level 60 players, leveling up to a marker each day will also grant an Emerald Gypsum that can be used to craft Gypsum Casts that ugprade their Expertise.
Aptitude Reward Caches for Gathering and Refining trade skills will give players different types of Legendary Tier 5 materials, Vials of Suspended Azoth, and trade skill-relevant Craft Mods.
Rewards will increase in amount as players reach each new Aptitude Marker. The cycle resets once players reach the third and final marker, after which the rarity of the caches reset.
On top of recipe and material rewards, Update 1.2 adds Equipment Patterns as a potential reward for Crafting Aptitude. These items are one-time use crafting recipes that guarantee a 600 GS item without the need for crafting trophies, gear, or food.
Only Aptitude Reward Caches for Arcana, Weaponsmithing, Armoring, and Engineering trade skills will have a chance to drop these unique items.
Note: This new system is only available for players with a Level 200 Trade Skill. Any kind of trade skill will do (e.g., gathering, refining, or crafting).
1 | Perform any activity related to your level 200 trade skill, whether it be crafting items, refining resources, or gathering raw materials. |
---|---|
2 | Earn enough XP to reach each of the Aptitude Markers in the brand new Aptitude XP Wheel. Note: Each trade skill will require a different amount of XP to reach each marker. For example, Tracking & Skinning will need more XP than Harvesting. |
3 | Keep earning and passing each Aptitude Marker in order to reset the cycle. Progress is tracked by the number at the center of the circle. |
4 | Receive Aptitude Reward Caches in different tiers and rarities as you progress. Remember, the 3rd marker will always give the best rewards. |
