AFK Timer Length: How Long Is the AFK Timer?

How Long Is the New World AFK Timer?

20 Minutes

New World has a 20 minute long AFK timer. If you leave the game running idle for 15 minutes, a notification will appear on the top right corner of the screen, warning that you have been detected as idle.

The game will give you 5 minutes to press any key once the notification appears. Letting the timer run out will kick you out of the game, sending you back to the login screen.

Prior to the New World Update 1.0.1, you can stay AFK for 25 minutes.

Harsh penalties will be applied to bad faith AFK players

On October 3, 2021, New World's official twitter account has announced that they have created a detection solution to prevent players from artificially remaining active in servers.

While they did not disclose how it works, they have stated that players caught by their detection solution will initially receive a quick kick to the main menu. Harsh penalities will then be applied if the behavior continues.

The AFK Timer (Away From Keyboard Timer) in New World activates if a player remains idle for a long period of time. Once the time is up, the player will be sent back to the login screen.
