Gather 345 Squash |
Gather 345 Berries |
To start, head towards the nearest Settlement with the highest Kitchen Tier. From here on out, you will be getting materials to craft Travel Rations, which you need to cook 345 of each to reach Level 50 for the next food that you will be crafting.
You will need to gather exactly 345 Tier 2 Raw Food and Raw Food to cook 345 Travel Ration to reach Level 50. You can effortlessly gather these materials from farming Nuts or Berries for Raw Foods and finding a farm that has Squash for your Tier 2 Raw Food.
Item | Req. Materials |
---|---|

・ Tier 2 Raw Foods x1
・ Raw Foods x1
|
You can gather Squash easily by going to Moe's Farm in Windsward Village. Make sure to have a camp set up outside the area and be prepared for a fight, as this place is infested with enemies.
Berries such as Blueberry and Berry are basically everywhere, and you can run around Aeternum collecting them while you do your quests.
Gather berries as much as you can as it will be used again in crafting Light Meal once you have reached level 50.
Gather 4640 Berries |
Gather 4640 Blueberries |
Gather 4640 Nuts or Mushroom |
Once you reach this level, you will be able to unlock Light Meal. This will be a more daunting task than the previous one as you will need a lot of materials to cook 4,640 Light Meals. That means you will have to gather 4640 for Tier 3 Raw food and 2 different material groups for Raw Foods.
The materials used to craft Light Meals aren't that rare and can easily be farmable as you can collect Blueberries or Berries for your Tier 3 Raw Food. You can then use Nuts for your Raw Foods, which are scattered around in Aeternum.
Item | Req. Materials |

・ Tier 3 Raw Foods x1
・ Raw Foods x2

The best place you can farm Nuts is to go to Monarch's Bluffs as there are a lot of spots you can gather them in. They are usually found besides trees if you're having a hard time looking for them.
Alternatively, you can farm Mushrooms instead of Nuts. They are usually found by harvesting fungi resource nodes. Harvesting Petalcaps in Windsward is the best place to gather for mushroom as each nodes are evenly spaced apart from each other, making farming easier.
Gather 1050 Apple |
Gather 1050 Berries |
Gather 1050 Nuts |
Gather 1050 Crops |
Gather 1050 Seasonings |
For your final push to get your Cooking to Level 200, you will have to cook 1,050 Hearty Meals. To do that you will need to gather 1,050 Tier 5 Raw Food, 1,050 Seasonings, and 1050 for 3 Different Types of Raw Food.
You will have to look for Provisions Containers or try your luck with skinning animals for rare drops. To get Seasonings, you can gather Honey as they are easier to farm. Continue to farm for the Berries, Crops, and Nuts from previous tiers as they can all be used to fill in your Raw Food requirement.

Hearty Meal |
・ Tier 5 Raw Foods x1
・ Raw Foods x3
・ Seasonings x1

Tier 5 Materials are hard to come by since most of them are rare drops from skinning animals or from provision crates. Apples are the easiest you can farm, and you can get them by opening Provision crates.
You can go around and look for Provision Crates in any of the starting areas to farm for the materials dropped by the containers. Only use the Trading Post to buy Tier 5 materials if the cost to buy one are cheap to save you your time or as a last resort if you're almost at the end of your journey.
The best place where you can easily farm Spices are in First Light. Other places where you can farm seasonings are in any of the starter beaches, Restless Shore, and Southern Mourningdale since there are a lot of herbs you can harvest there.
It's advisable to equip a sickle with the Harvesting Yield perk since it can increase Hyssop gains by 10% when gathering.
One way to speed up gathering required materials to level your Cooking is through upgrading Tools, especially sickles.
By having better gathering equipment, you can accumulate required materials much quicker and in considerable amounts. This means you'll spend less time going to and from Settlements looking for places to harvest.
Tool | Stats and Description | |
---|---|---|
Flint Harvesting Sickle | Tier: 1 | G. Speed: 100% ~ 100% |
1-Handed. A makeshift Harvesting Sickle. Used to gather most plants, albeit slowly. | ||
Iron Harvesting Sickle | Tier: 2 | G. Speed: 125% ~ 170% |
1-Handed. A Harvesting Sickle made of Iron. Used to gather most plants. | ||
Steel Harvesting Sickle | Tier: 3 | G. Speed: 250% ~ 270% |
1-Handed. A Harvesting Sickle made of Steel. Used to gather most plants. | ||
Starmetal Harvesting Sickle | Tier: 4 | G. Speed: 400% |
1-Handed. A Harvesting Sickle made of Starmetal. Used to gather most plants. | ||
Orichalcum Harvesting Sickle | Tier: 5 | G. Speed: 625% |
1-Handed. A Harvesting Sickle made of Orichalcum. Used to gather most plants. |
Proficiency Boosters will help you decrease the time it takes to gather required materials for your cooking by increasing the number of resources obtained through gathering.
This is especially helpful for farming cooking materials that are rare or have their resources node far from one another, trimming down the travel time.
To make the most out of your time, make sure to harvest Berries, Crops, and Nuts while out on a quest since they are everywhere in Aeternum. Make sure to gather them wherever you go as much as possible as this will save you a lot from spending gold.
While trying to level up Cooking, you'll be spending most of your time at Crafting Stations cooking new recipes. If you're not cooking, you're probably spending time purchasing them at the Trading Post instead. These expenses will stack up after some time, so it's best to do these activities in Settlements with low taxes to make the most of your gold.
Keep in mind, however, that you'll still need the correct station tier to craft high-level recipes.
While Levels 0 to 50 should be fairly easy to complete, the next two stages will take longer due to the time it will take to gather all the materials. If you're willing to part with your gold, however, you can speed up this process by purchasing required materials at the Trading Post instead.
Keep in mind that buying everything will set you back quite a lot, so only do this if you won't need the gold for other purposes.
