To catch a Greedy Shadow, the only way is to play the minigame, which involves choosing a direction with a 50/50 chance of being wrong. You just need to get lucky three times, and you'll be able to corner the Greedy Shadow after your third prompt!
Failing to win the luck-based minigame results in reaching a dead end, which ends the hunt immediately as the Greedy Shadow takes the opportunity to escape.
In case this happens, you can restart the entire block or door by refreshing it repeatedly until a Greedy Shadow appears.
At higher levels, you can skip the minigame and have Fuuka use Tartarus Search to locate the Greedy Shadow. Once used, you'll be able to challenge the Greedy Shadow right away without going through the luck-based minigame.
The easiest and most effective way of getting Rare Shadows to reveal themselves more often is by paying the Fortune Teller at Club Escapade and investing in a Rarity Fortune reading.
Doing so will dramatically increase the odds of Rare Shadows appearing on your next expedition to Tartarus.
One strange yet fortunate phenomenon is a floor anomaly in which a floor in Tartarus almost exclusively spawns Rare Shadows! Should Fuuka inform you of this anomaly, don't think twice and seize the opportunity!
This anomaly is just as rare as the Rare Shadows themselves, so should you be so fortunate to encounter it, do not bar any holds!
Tartarus Exploration Guide and Tips
By the end of each floor, you can use the teleporters to revisit the entire block to reset the enemies. This is a good way to force spawn rare enemies and even greedy shadows!
The Lovers Arcana increases the spawn of Rare Enemies for the whole duration of the exploration. If you have this unlocked, be sure to pick it to increase the chances of seeing rare and greedy shadows!
Lovers Boss Guide: Weakness and Resistances
Compared to the spoils of ordinary battles, defeating Rare Shadows will yield significantly more EXP and yen! It is for this reason that encountering them is very opportune, for it will lead to faster leveling and more money to spend!
Much like its smaller Rare Shadow counterparts, Greedy Shadows also provide greater yen and HP than usual, but to an even bigger extent!
