These are the best and most efficient ways to increase your Academics stat in Persona 3 Reload:
Don't Sleep in Class
This method is free, time-efficient, since it takes place in class, and can even get you free Charm points. If you wish to raise your Academics fast, always pay attention in class!
What Happens if You Sleep During Class (P3R)
Group Study in Iwatodai Dorm
Holding a group study with all of your dormmates in Iwatodai Dorm, before the exams, will give you +3 in Academics. This doesn't happen very often, so always take the opportunity when it appears!

Win Quiz Game at Arcade
The Quiz Game at the Game Panic Arcade in Paulownia Mall is a bit costly at ¥3000, but it can give your Academics a huge boost every Wednesday and Saturday.

Doing this simple thing easily increases your Academics by +1, so it always helps to pay attention in class! You may also get a chance to increase your Charm with correct quiz answers.
Study in Iwatodai Dorm
You can spend a night in your room in Iwatodai Dorm to study, giving you a +1 in Academics. You can also study with a dormmate, which gives you +2 in Academics.
Holding a group study with all of your dormmates, before the exams, which is the best way to do this method, will give you +3 in Academics.
Do the Wild Duck Burger Challenge
Doing the Wild Duck Burger challenge at Iwatodai Station gives you +2 to all stats, including Academics, for one time only.

The Quiz Game at the Game Panic Arcade in Paulownia Mall is where you can increase your Academics for ¥3000. It is costly, but it does give your Academics a huge boost. Note that this is only available every Wednesday and Saturday.
Eat at Wakatsu Kitchen
Go to Wakatsu Restaurant found at Iwatodai Station and eat both the Prodigy Platter, which costs ¥680, and the Seafood Platter, which costs ¥900. Both of these increase your Academics.

Use Academic Software
You can purchase software at the shared computer in the dorm to increase your Academics. Note that these are consumables and is a 1-time use only. This is best used on a Sunday, when the arcade doesn't offer any social stat boost activities.
Work Part-Time
Work part-time at Be blue V in Tatsumi Port Island or Screen Shot Cinema in Port Island Station to raise your Academics by +2.

Study in the Library
Study at the Library found at the First Floor West Wing for free to increase your Academics.
Offer Money at Naganaki Shrine
Offering Money at Naganaki Shrine increases your Academics by a little. Doing this costs ¥100. However, on a Sunday, when giving ¥10,000, the shrine gives you +3 Academics instead.

Engage in Dorm Activities
The Iwatodai Dorm presents a lot of opportunities to increase your Social Stats, and you can even do these activities with your friends! However, these activities will not be available until June 16th.
Watch a DVD
A good alternative to watching movies at the cinema is by watching DVDs at the dorm with your friends! This will increase a Social Stat depending on what you will watch, which will be determined by whoever is available to watch with you.
Read a Book
Just like watching a DVD, your friends will occasionally be available to read a book of their choosing. Reading with them will increase a Social Stat depending on the genre of books you will read.

What is Academics For?
Rank Up to Unlock New Content
Academics has 6 Ranks you can reach by increasing your Academics. Doing this will open new dialogue options and even unlock new Social Links with characters who require a certain set of social stats.
Get Higher Scores on Exams
Higher Academics will allow you to get high marks in your exams, which in turn increases your Charm social stat. Flunking your exams will either not result in any stat progression or have adverse effects.
