A second-year who transferred to Gekkoukan High School in the spring, returning to the island he used to live on as a child.
After a run-in with a frightening monster awakens him to the power of Persona, he is recruited by the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad (SEES).

Protagonist's Role in Combat

The first Persona that awakens within him is Orpheus, but he turns out to be a special case who can swap between multiple Personas at will, giving the player great flexibility in battle strategy.

Protagonist Canon Name

Referred to as Makoto Yuki in Trailers and Films

In various media, the protagonist's canon name is confirmed to be Makoto Yuki. This is also used in the official trailers where characters are seen referring him as Yuki or Makoto.

This name was first used in Persona 3 The Movie and was later used in the rhythm game, Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight.

The protagonist starts out with Persona Orpheus of the Fool Arcana after his dorm is attacked by Shadows during the Dark Hour.

Wild Card Ability

Later on, the Protagonist gains access to the Wild Card ability. This ability allows him to wield multiple Personas and switch between them when in battle.

Fusion Spells

Theurgies are powerful skills unique to each party member and can turn the tides of battle heavily in your favor. A party member may learn more than one Theurgy skill. Due to the Protagonist's Wild Card ability, he can learn more Theurgies than usual.

His Theurgies will depend on the Personas he has unlocked and registered in the Compendium. His Theurgies will be in the form of Fusion Spells in which two Personas will unleash a joint attack on enemies.

Complete the Persona Compendium to Unlock Theurgies

Reaching certain completion rates in the Persona Compendium will unlock the Protagonist's Theurgies, most specifically in increments of 30%.

A Theurgy will be unlocked once players reach 30% completion of the Compendium, and another at 60%

Protagonist Characteristics

The Protagonist's Characteristics take advantage of one of the game's groundbreaking mechanics—hitting weaknesses.

Characteristic: Weakness Boost

Hitting enemy weaknesses will deal increased DMG to targets. This will be perfect for when you face enemies that boast high HP and DEF.

Characteristic Evolution: Weakness Amp

Significantly more DMG will be dealt to enemies whose weaknesses are hit, which is helpful for when you face bosses with elemental affinities.

Can You Play as the Female Protagonist (FeMC)?

No, You Cannot Play as the Female Protagonist

The male and female protagonists in Persona 3 Portable.

You cannot play as the Female Protagonist (Kotome Shiomi) in Persona 3 Reload. Reload is a remake of the original Persona 3 with added features and as such, it does not include the ability to play as the female protagonist from Persona 3 Portable.
