Shadow Makoto Yuki, also known as the Shadow of Doubt, is the manifestation of SEES' desire to see the MC from the main game again. Shadow MC is a challenging opponent that still possesses the Wild Card, allowing him to swap Personas mirroring whatever team you bring to the fight.

Shadow Makoto can switch his affinities based on what Persona he has currently equipped. Pay attention to what Persona he's currently on before attacking him.
Note that while the Protagonist will also copy the weakness of whichever Persona it has, it cannot be downed by the respective spell but will take increased damage from it.
The following tips can help you beat ??? (Shadow Protagonist) in battle.
Aigis can use Armageddon, which, if used, can end the fight immediately. Since this boss fight doesn’t have any follow-up bosses, you can safely use this theurgy to save time!
To get Armageddon, make sure that you have Helel and Satan on your imported save file so that you can just summon them instead of having to fuse them again.
Depending on which party member you bring to this fight, the boss can have 3 to 4 phases where it uses the Persona of each member of SEES you bring. The Shadow Protagonist's affinities will also change depending on its equipped Persona.
The exception to this rule is Metis, where the enemy will be unable to use Psyche and just cycle between the Persona of the two other party members you have plus Athena.
Since Shadow MC will use Personas from your actual team, make sure to bring teammates who aren't weak to each other's elements.
These Personas will use the heavy versions of their main elements, and you can prevent him from getting extra turns by setting up your team without elemental weaknesses to one another.
You can attack Shadow Makoto with Theurgies as these can bypass his resistances. Theurgies like Junpei's Hack n' Blast, or your own Fusion Spells will do the trick. Mitsuru's Blade of Execution is also an amazing Theurgy to use as it can deal Almighty damage while also giving you a free Debilitate on the boss.
Metis is a great choice here as the Shadow Makoto cannot copy Psyche. This makes it so that the Shadow Makoto can only copy 3 of the 4 party members present in the battle, making it easier to target his weakness.
If Shadow Makoto does manage to target a party member's weakness, it will get another turn and can swap Persona to target another allies' weakness.
Shadow Makoto will only change personas after using them three times. This means the element he nulls will also change after. Keep this in mind during combat to plan which moves to use before or after he switches
Character | Best Skills |

Aigis (MC) |
・Thunder Reign ・Matarukaja ・Concentrate |
・Fuse your best Personas for this fight. We highly suggest a Magic-based Persona like Odin, to bring to this fight. ・Pay attention to Shadow MC's current Persona and make sure you won't be downed when it's his turn. ・Since this party does not have a dedicated healer, you can take on a defensive role and have Personas with Mediarahan or buffing/debuffing skills. |
|
Mitsuru |
・Ice Boost ・Diamond Dust ・Concentrate |
・Mitsuru can provide big damage with a Concentrated Diamond Dust as well as the potential to inflict Freeze for critical hits. ・She has Marakunda which makes her a great debuffer, if you don't have Koromaru in the team ・Her Theurgy, Blade of Execution, also gives a free Debilitate when used. |
|
Koromaru |
・Rebellion ・Eigaon ・Debilitate |
・Koromaru's Debilitate is a needed move to debuff Shadow Makoto quickly in one move. ・His Eigaon, when paired with Dark Boost, can also inflict a lot of damage with a debuffed Shadow Makoto ・Rebellion, paired with Junpei and his Characteristic, makes Junpei a Crit machine to offer mutiple chances of All-Out Attacks. |
|
Junpei |
・Brave Blade ・Vile Assault ・High Counter |
・Junpei's high Strength stat and Crit Amp makes him a valuable party member, as he can deal damage while having the best possibility for a critical hit for All-Out Attacks. ・Shadow Makoto uses Physical moves for his first turn so, High Counter is valuable to mitigate the damage he does. ・Brave Blade is Junpei's bread and butter when it comes to inflicting crtis. |
Character | Best Skills |
---|---|
Metis |
・Brave Blade ・Akasha Arts ・Charge |
・Metis's Psyche is the only Persona Shadow Makoto can't copy so take advantage of that. ・She can take the place of Junpei as she boasts powerful Physical attacks as well as a great Theurgy. ・She also has Matarukaja and Dekaja to support the team and remove any buffs from Shadow Makoto. |
|
Ken |
・Mediarahan ・Samarecarm ・Heat Riser |
・Ken's Theurgy, Divine Intervention, is a valuable panic button to revive and restore your team into full health while providing a Tetrakarn and a Makarakarn to everyone. ・Ken will act as your main healing support, with Mediarahan and Samarecarm in his disposal. Be aware that you are potentially reducing your firepower against Shadow Makoto. ・He can buff your damage dealer with Heat Riser and also inflict damage with Kougaon. |
Persona | Best Skills |
---|---|
Odin |
・Thunder Reign ・Marakunda ・Concentrate |
・Thunder Reign with Elec Amp deals massive damage espeically when Shadow Makoto is neutral to these elements. ・Concentrating before attacking with Thunder Reign also can increase the damage done. ・Marakunda can be a support debuff move in case you are running without Mitsuru or Koromaru. |
|
Masakado |
・Myriad Arrows ・Pierce Amp ・Debilitate |
・Masakado can crit easily when fused with Crit Rate Boost, coupled with Myriad Arrows. Be aware that he blocks Pierce at the start of the fight. ・At level 80, he has access to Debilitate in case you are running without Mitsuru or Koromaru. ・Buff your Myriad Arrows with Pierce Boost and Pierce Amp to further your damage. | |
Loki |
・Agidyne ・Single-Target Boost ・Concentrate |
・Loki learns all elemental -dyne spells innately which makes him a great single-target Magic Persona. ・To supplement his single target skills, haivng Single-Target Boost helps increase his damage even further. ・ Concentrate before attacking Shadow Makoto to up your damage even more. |
