Link Episodes are a new feature introduced in Persona 3 Reload (P3R) where you can explore new stories involving your allies during certain points of the game. Read our Link Episodes Guide to learn how to trigger them and what happens if you miss any!
List of Contents
Link Episodes are side stories that go in-depth about certain characters. You'll be able to bond with your allies, or even get to know your enemies in Strega.
If you've played the original games, these stories will be new to you! The developers describe these Link Episodes as stories that have never been told before, and you'll be able to see unexpected sides of the game characters. They also said that this new feature is a separate mechanic from the existing Social Link feature.
In the original games, you barely got to bond the male characters as a male MC, but thanks to this new feature, you'll gain opportunities to do so.
All New Features and Mechanics
By playing through certain Link Episodes, you'll be able to gain stat boosts, and unlock special Persona combinations!
Even if you're not interested in these side stories, it's still worthwhile to check them out for the rewards.
Character | Persona | Special Item |
---|---|---|
Junpei | Surt | Baseball Glove |
Akihiko | Horus | Hand Wraps |
Shinjiro | Hell Biker | Incomplete Form |
Ken | Michael | Silver Key |
Koromaru | Byakko | Koromaru's Collar |
Ryoji | Saturnus | Music Box |
To be able to unlock certain Link Episodes, you need to progress through the main story. Link Episodes are mostly connected to the current events in the main story. This means that if you don't play through a Link Episode, it's likely that the opportunity will disappear when you progress the main story.
Walkthrough and 100% Completion Guide (P3R)
Link Episodes are time-limited, meaning you eventually won't be able to play one if you took too long to start it.
Link Episodes are tied to the main story; you'll unlock a certain Link Episode when you progress to the point in the story where it is tied to. Progressing through the main story without playing an episode is also the trigger to make it missable.
If you missed out on a Link Episode, you can use P3R's Rewind function. If done early enough, you can still play through Link Episodes you've missed.
What is the Rewind Feature and How to Use It
There are a couple of Link Episodes that are locked behind items found during exploration. For example, at floor B9 of Cocytus in the Episode Aigis DLC, players can find items that will unlock Link Episodes for Junpei and Akihiko.
Should you fail to obtain these items, which are locked behind Twilight Fragments, players can miss the cutscenes entirely.
Episode: Aigis brings in new Link Episodes to bond more closely with your SEES teammates as Aigis.
Since Social Links will not be present during the epilogue, Link Episodes will be your go-to way to receive bonuses and perks from Aigis' teammates, as well as interacting with them as they make their way through the Abyss of Time.
