Outer Worlds 2 Party Upgrades

To upgrade your Companions, interact with a Workbench and select Party Upgrades. This allows you to upgrade your Companion's weapon and armor, improving their efficacy in combat and granting them more abilities.

Complete Companion Quests to Unlock Upgrade Kit

All Companions

Each Companion has two tiers of upgrades for both their armor and weapon, with each tier unlocked by obtaining the Companion's upgrade kit, received by completing their quests. The Companion's basic kit unlocks the first tier, and the advanced kit unlocks the second tier.

For both the Companion's weapon and armor, at each tier you can select one of two upgrades and freely swap between them at a Workbench.

Get 1 Perk Point for Companions Every 5 Levels

Outer Worlds 2 Companion Perk Points

You earn 1 Perk Point for your Companions every 5 levels, compared to your character’s 2 levels. Perk Points are used to unlock perks in your Companion’s upgrade kit. Between those 5 levels, their HP will increase alongside yours. Complete quests, kill enemies, and explore the world to gain XP and level up.
