Most weapons in the game can be found simply in the Overworld. Explore the areas you are in and pick up weapons by using your Interact key to get the weapon in your inventory.
Make sure to peruse containers and other objects of interest in the overworld that may hold weapons or ammo inside them.
Outer Worlds 2 Interactive Map

You can also buy weapons from Vendors that have them! Make sure you have the sufficient bits to purchase weapons to get the armaments you need!

Weapons can also be rewarded from getting through quests! Make sure to get through the main quests and side quests to be rewarded with guns and other weapons!

You can also acquire some weapons from vending machines around the overworld. However, this will be entirely by chance if the vending machine sells weapons or not.

You must choose the right type of weapon that fits your character build. Your combat effectiveness will be reliant not only on your stats but on your build and how you use the weapons you have equipped.
If you are focused on a Stealth build for example, you must choose weapons such as pistols, revolvers or if playing safe, long-range weapons to take advantage of your stealth-oriented gameplay.

Weapons have mod attachments to them that you can equip to upgrade their effects in combat. Mods such as magnifcation scopes improve your accuracy when shooting from range, while grips allow melee weapons to deal more damage amongst other effects.
Just note that you cannot remove Mods on weapons once they are equipped and will remain for that weapon for the rest of the game, so be careful when choosing mod parts!

Your Traits and Skills affect some of your weapon stats as well. If you lean towards more stealthier traits in-game, you will notice you have an increased stealth multipler that allows you to be more sneakier.

Weapons in the Outer Worlds 2 use different ammo types depending on the gun's features and caliber. Make sure to pick up as much as you can to continue rocking in the wastelands!
Some of the ammunition in-game are pretty common, such as Short Rounds and Compact Rounds while special ammo such as Bio-Mass Canisters might be uncommon and harder to find. Melee weapons meanwhile, do not have ammo and can be used repeatedly.

Certain guns will have duplicates that are of higher and rarer quality than the regular versions. Make sure to explore Outer Worlds 2's world to find these weapons and gain the different bonuses they provide!
