Having the correct skills can help you get into and power the substation in Outer Worlds 2. Learn how to get into the substation and power the substation, as well as what gets affected by the repaired substation.

How to Power the Substation

Have Engineering or Innovative
If you have either Engineering 3 or the Innovative Trait, you will be able to repair the substation immediately. Simply climb the substation ladder and interact with the panel to repair it.
Find a Substation Repair Kit
| # | Substation Repair Kit Location |
|---|---|
| 1 |  Locate the grate at the side of the substation. Walking up to the grate should be enough to highlight it. |
| 2 |  Interact with the grate. You will need either Sneak 2 or the Nimble Trait to exploit the vulnerability. |
| 3 |  Enter the substation through the opening and pick up the Substation Repair Kit |
| 4 |  Exit through the hole and climb the ladder beside the substation door. |
| 5 |  Use the Substation Repair Kit on the panel to repair it. |
If you do not have the needed skills or Trait to immediately repair the Substation, you must instead find the Substation Repair Kit.

Free Corrosive Shock Machine Gun
Repairing the Substation allows you to get a free Corrosive Shock Machine Gun. This is a great early-game weapon that can easily melt heavily-armored enemies.
How to Open the Unpowered Door

Charge the Substation Fuse located beside the pair of lockers. |
| 2 |  Remove the Charged Substation Fuse from the charging station. |
| 3 |  Insert the Charged Substation Fuse into the empty slot. |
Unlocks the Befuddled Fisherman's House
Repairing the Substation also repairs the Befuddled Fisherman's house located at the bottom of the hill that the Substation is located in.
You will be able to find numerous useful items inside the house, such as an Advanced Decryption Key, Explosive Light Revolver, and Emergency Deflectors in the safe, as well as a Triple Barrel Shotgun in the crawlspace under the house.
