How to Unlock Imprisoned by the Riddles of Reality
Talk to Anchoress Chao and Brun
Anchoress Chao and Brun can be found inside the Alexandra Monastery, specifically in the room called "Anchorhold". Take note that Alexandra Monastery can only be accessed during the main mission On the Trail of the Traitor.

During On the Trail of the Traitor, both Chao and Brun can be encountered in the room "Anchorhold" in the Alexandra Monastery. You'll be tasked to bring them 2 books to discuss peace and war, with you ultimately choosing between one.

Find the Book Only Real Numbers

Exit the Anchorhold and head to the area where the hostages are being held. If you haven't encountered them yet, you'll have to make a choice to save the hostages or not. |
| 2 | Enter the door to the right labeled "Be a Hero". Climb the stairs, turn left, and use the bookshelf to reach the room "Special Collections". Take note that you'll need to defeat a handful of enemies when you first reach this location. |
| 3 | To enter Special Collections, you can find and open a hidden vent that is located outside of the room. Alternatively, you can force the door open by having Engineering 5 or the Brawny trait. |

Pick up the book Only Real Numbers placed on the wooden table to the right. |
Find the Book Conflict and Deescalation Theory

Head back to the area where the hostages were held but this time, enter the door to the left with the label "Betray your morals". Entering this room without saving the hostages first will result in their deaths. Make sure to save them first if you want to avoid this outcome. |

Use the furniture with yellow markings on the left to climb up to the second floor of the room. |

You'll find the book Conflict and Deescalation Theory placed on top of this wooden table to the left. You can now return to Anchoress Chao and Brun. |
Return to Anchoress Chao and Brun

Upon returning to Anchoress Chao and Brun, hand both books over by using the Anchorite Drawer. After some dialogue, they'll ask for your opinion where you'll have to side with Anchoress Chao or Brun.
While additional dialogue locked behind Speech skills will appear, you don't have to unlock them for additional rewards. Simply side with Anchoress Chao if you want to receive an armor, or with Anchoress Brun if you want a new weapon.

Choose Anchoress Chao or Brun?
To conclude the mission, you'll have to side with Chao or Brun. Chao rewards you with the Repellent Awakened Seer Robes armor while Brun rewards you with the Sawed-Off Heavy Machine Gun.
We recommend choosing Chao as the armor's stats and benefits outweigh the weapon's value. Take note that you can only choose one reward as there are no ways to collect both gear.
