This is a guide to the best build for the Roustabout Background in Outer Worlds 2. Find out what the best Roustabout build is, which traits and skills to get, as well as what weapons and armor to equip.

+5% Critical Chance. Certain opportunities are just accessible to you.

Reputation with any faction can never decrease below Neutral, preventing any penalties that would be gained from having a negative reputation with a faction, such as vendor surcharges.
As a Roustabout, your character was able to become a feared Earth Directorate agent by being at the right place at the wrong time. As such, Lucky is one of the best traits to get. Not only does it give you increased Critical Chance, but it also makes certain opportunities easily accessible. Additionally, you can also get the Witty trait, as it prevents negative reputation, which is in line with your character's background.
During skill selection, lock 5 of the 12 available skills. Those skills can never have points added to them.
The Dumb negative trait will round this build out, as the background states you have a particular set of skills not suited for any job.
Upon selecting Dumb, lock Engineering, Medical, Science!, Explosives, and either Guns or Melee based on what weapon type you want to use during your playthrough.

As a Roustabout, you don't innately have combat skills. This makes Sneak an important skill, as you would rather hide and avoid fights. Speech is another important skill, as you have grown accustomed to talking your way out of dangerous situations.
Observation allows you to notice details that will help convince others that you mean no harm, while Leadership is a result of others looking up to you thanks to your reputation.

The Roustabout build focuses on staying out of trouble, be it by sneaking or by talking your way out of dangerous situations. Ghost allows you to easily escape when an enemy is investigating you, thanks to the Camouflage.
Charlatan, on the other hand, makes it easier to lie to the people you are talking to, while also reducing the chance of getting targeted. Lastly, Face Reader will help you avoid bad conversation options, allowing you to maintain your reputation.
Should you be forced to take down enemies in your way, any silenced weapon is your best bet, as you will need to dispatch them without making noise. Alternatively, you can also use light melee weapons to take enemies down if they are too close to where you are hiding.
You can silence a weapon by equipping a silencer mod on your weapon. Mods can either be bought from a vending machine, crafted on a Workbench, or looted while exploring.
Light Armor increases your Evasion Chance and Combat Sprint Speed, allowing you to dodge enemy attacks easier, as well as run away during combat. This allows you to get out of your enemy's attack range, hide, and return once they have stopped being aggressive.

Good day! Thank you for using our guides. When picking the Dumb trait, we recommend locking Engineering, Medical, Science!, Explosives, and either Guns or Melee, depending on the weapon type you will be using. For example, if you want to use Guns, then lock out Melee. The guide has also been updated to show this recommendation. Thank you, and we hope you continue using our guides!
