How to Unlock Better by Factors
Approach the Automech Factory in Praetor
While approaching the Automech Factory in Praetor during the quest An Instrument to Unfold Space & Time, VALERIE will call you and say that she found valuable parts in the factory that she can use to upgrade herself.
This will automatically start the quest, although you still need to manually select the quest in your journal to start tracking it.

Enter the Automech Factory
There are two ways to enter the Automech Factory: via the left entrance on the ground floor, or via the right entrance on the right side.
The left entrance initially has more Automechanical guards, but leads to a section of the Factory that has little to no enemies. The right entrance, on the other hand, only has one guard that goes inside after a while, but leads to an area with multiple Automechanicals and Protectorate guards.
Enter via Left Entrance
| Step-by-step Walkthrough | |
|---|---|
| 1 |  Go through the left entrance to find three Automechanicals standing guard. You can either take them down, or use a Distraction Device and sneak past them. Enter the large door at the end of the open area. |
| 2 |  Once you are inside the factory, turn right and head toward another large door. |
| 3 |  After going through the large door, you should see a small door to your right. Go toward it and enter the room. |
| 4 |  You will find VALERIE's Advanced Mod Kit inside a display case. Open the display case and pick up the Mod Kit. |
Enter via Right Entrance
| Step-by-step Walkthrough | |
|---|---|
| 1 |  Head toward the right entrance, where you will see a guard on the second-floor balcony. Either take him down, or wait for him to go back inside. |
| 2 |  To the right side of the right entrance are rocks that you can climb. Climb up until you reach the dirt pathway. |
| 3 |  Follow the path until you reach the end. You should now be right beside the balcony the guard was on. |
| 4 |  Jump from the pathway onto the balcony. Loot the guard if you killed him, then go through the door and enter the factory. |
| 5 |  Go down the staircase to your right. Be careful of the roaming Automechanicals and Protectorate guards. |
| 6 |  Wait for the Automechanicals to walk away before heading toward the large door. |
| 7 |  Right before the large door, you will see a door to your left. Go to it and enter the room. |
| 8 |  You will find VALERIE's Advanced Mod Kit inside a display case. Open the display case and pick up the Mod Kit. |
Better by Factors Choices
No Important Choices
Better by Factors has no important choices, as it just involves recovering the VALERIE's Advanced Mod Kit from the factory.
Complete or Skip Quest
Although the quest itself does not have any important choices, it can still affect Niles' and VALERIE's ending based on whether or not you did the quest.
