
This is a companion guide for Marisol in Outer Worlds 2. Read on to learn how to recruit Marisol, what her best build is, and what her best perks and upgrades are.

While going through the quest Beginning at the Endpoint, you will run into Marisol. You will be able to recruit her then.
It is important to note, however, that you can kill Marisol during this quest. This will make her permanently unavailable as a companion.

Companion Quests not only tell you more about a companion, but can also provide Mod Kits that can upgrade your companion's weapon and armor. As such, always try to do Companion Quests when they become available.

Marisol's Companion Ability, Torpifying Blast, locks the target in place, preventing them from moving. Additionally, all attacks that hit the locked target are automatic Critical Hits, allowing you to deal a huge burst of damage during the duration.
Her Gadget Optimization trait allows you to quickly restore your energy whenever your party scores a kill. At the same time, Threat Analyzer gives you more information about enemies you target while Tactical Time Dilation or the N-Ray Scanner is active.
Marisol is a support character, especially for Science builds, thanks to her affinity for elemental damage. Whether the support comes in the form of her empowered Companion Ability or her gadget buffs will depend on the perks you take, so you will need to decide in advance what role you want her to take.
Additionally, Marisol's main weapon is an elemental pistol, so she will primarily be engaging from short to medium range and applying status effects on her targets.

The Gadget Spam build, as the name implies, allows you to continuously use your gadget thanks to the various energy recharge skills Marisol has. Portable Capacitor Distributor, Recharge Paralysis, and Energy Relay all charge your gadget's energy through various means, allowing you to keep using them in combat.
You can then empower either your N-Ray Scanner via N-Ray Scanner Analyzer, or your Gas-Energy Deflection Aparatus via Shield Generator Reflector, depending on which gadget you use more often. Lastly, Linked Charge will charge Marisol's companion ability whenever you use your gadget, while Elemental Weapon Specialist refunds some elemental ammo.
Lastly, the additional perk Energy Dispersal refills your gadget energy whenever Marisol uses her companion ability, allowing you to spam your gadgets even more.

This build focuses on strengthening Marisol's Companion Ability, allowing her to stun more people and improve its effects. Dispersed Glare and Chain Paralysis are the main perks for this build. Dispersed Glare makes the companion ability AoE, while Chain Paralysis makes the ability's effects jump when an affected enemy is killed.
Combatant Analyzer and N-Ray Scanner Analyzer allow you to apply status effects on stunned enemies, while Energy Relay increases your damage output against them when timed properly. Lastly, Elemental Weapon Specialist will refund some of the elemental ammo you use. Additionally, get the perk Energy Storage so Marisol can use her companion ability up to twice in a row.

Superheating Barrel and Isomorphic Charger are the best upgrades for Marisol's Pistol. Superheating Barrel applies Plasma side-effects more effectively, while Isomorphic Charger charges Marisol's Companion Ability whenever she damages enemies with her pistol.
For Marisol's Body Armor, Shock Absorber and Kinetic Charging Relay are the best upgrades. Shock Absorber makes her immune to Shock side-effects, while Kinetic Charging Relay charges her Companion Ability whenever she takes damage.
It's important to note, however, that you can freely change upgrades during your travels, allowing you to adjust to what you need.
