
This is a companion guide for Aza in Outer Worlds 2. Read on to learn how to recruit Aza, what her best build is, and what her best perks and upgrades are.

While exploring Golden Ridge, approach the Decommissioned Autonomus Extractorium to hear Aza shouting threats at her captors. Defeat all of the enemies inside the Extractorium then rescue Aza from her imprisonment.
Once she's free, she'll ask you for help in defeating some Renegade Glorious Daw cultists. Agree to help her to get her to join your party. This will also trigger her first companion quest, The Dawn of a Glorious Betrayal.

Companion Quests not only tell you more about a companion, but can also provide Mod Kits that can upgrade your companion's weapon and armor. As such, always try to do Companion Quests when they become available.

Aza's Companion Ability, Spread the Message, allows her to deal heavy physical damage to enemies in a cone, as well as stagger them when hit.
Her Companion Ability charges faster and can have up to two charges thanks to her trait A Chaotic Purpose. At the same time, Hidden in Plain-Sight increases the bounty requirement for turning into an Outlaw for factions you have a neutral or higher reputation with.
Aza's role is either as a Stealth or Explosive DPS based on which perks you get for her. Her Stealth side allows her to deal more damage using her knife, while also providing you with additional Stealth capabilities.
Her Explosive side, on the other hand, buffs her Companion Ability, making them deal more damage over a bigger area, while also providing buffs to your Explosive capabilities.

This build focuses on Aza's ability to quickly and quietly take down enemies. Start fights with Aza's Companion Ability (which should be available thanks to Shorten the Fuse), giving her the damage buff from Strike From Smoke. The companion ability itself should deal more damage thanks to N-Ray Charge.
Once buffed, Aza will target weaker enemies thanks to From the Shadows, occasionally dealing more damage thanks to Flurry of Blades. Lastly, Aza will buff your Sneak capabilities thanks to Assisted Takedowns. A New Cause, on the other hand, will help charge Aza's combat ability whenever you use your gadgets.

Aza can also be an explosive DPS, dealing huge bursts of damage against groups of enemies. Volatile Bombs, N-Ray Charge, and Shorten the Fuse strengthen Aza's Companion Ability, while also allowing her to use it immediately. While it's charging, Relentless will help increase her damage output with her knife.
Aza will also improve your own explosive capabilities, with Explosive Recycling giving you crafting materials after disabling mines. Additionally, Mine Layer will improve the damage of your explosives and mines, while also making your mines knock down enemies hit by it.
Lastly, No Cause potentially allows you to use Aza's companion ability multiple times in a row, dealing even more damage to enemies.

Zap Coils and Vitals-Finding Design are the best upgrades for Aza's Knife, as not only does it convert her damage to Shock, but it also allows her to deal more damage to enemies not targeting her.
As for Aza's Body Armor, Heat-Resistant Cloth and Shadow Melding Fabrics are the best upgrades, as they make her immune to Plasma damage's side effects, while also allowing her to move around the battlefield while hidden whenever she's moving toward her targets.
It's important to note, however, that you can freely change upgrades during your travels, allowing you to adjust to what you need.
