VALERIE Companion Guide: Best Builds and Upgrades
This is a companion guide for VALERIE in Outer Worlds 2. Read on for the best VALERIE build, as well as her best perks and upgrades.
All VALERIE Companion Quests

Companion Quests not only tell you more about a companion, but can also provide Mod Kits that can upgrade your companion's weapon and armor. As such, always try to do Companion Quests when they become available.
VALERIE Abilities and Traits

Role in Party
VALERIE is the party's support, and can either heal the party or buff their defenses based on what perks you select. Both versions of VALERIE are good, so pick whichever fits your playstyle more.
VALERIE can also easily apply status effects using her Blaster, making her great for Science builds that rely on different damage types.

Fortitude Supplement Module VALERIE will fire a cleansing syringe at you when you are suffering a hostile effect, healing you and clearing all hostile status effects. |
| 20 | Enhanced Emergency Protocols The damage reduction from VALERIE's companion ability becomes damage immunity instead, and lasts for the same duration. |
Preparation Protocols While you are at full health, VALERIE's companion ability recharges significantly faster. |

Preservation Catalyst While VALERIE is in the party, you and your companions will automatically heal, regenerating up to 50% of their max health. |

Prolonged Restoration VALERIE'S companion ability provides a regeneration effect for the remainder of combat. |

Choosing Restoration Operation, Preparation Protocols, Vitality Catalyst, and Prolonged Restoration will turn her into a healing bot that provides as much healing as possible.
Additionally, Salvaging Tools will help you get additional crafting items when breaking junk down, while the Fortitude Supplement Module will help clear debuffs.

Getting Armor Operation, Enhanced Emergency Protocols, and Prolonged Defenses will instead turn VALERIE into a defense support that provides as much damage mitigation as possible, with Preservation Catalyst providing enough healing to keep you alive.
Similar to the healing support build, take Salvaging Tools for additional items when breaking junk down, as well as the Fortitude Supplement Module for easy debuff clearing.

Supercooling Coils makes VALERIE's weapon deal Frost damage, which is a damage type you don't have easy access to early in the game. Additionally, Energy Accelerator makes her weapon periodically fire a large beam, increasing her damage output.
As for VALERIE's Armor Plating, get Acid-Proof Plating to make her immune to Corrosive side effects, as well as the Enhanced Generator so that her Companion Ability charges faster.
It's important to note, however, that you can freely change upgrades during your travels, allowing you to adjust to what you need.
