Inez Companion Guide: How to Recruit and Best Build
This is a companion guide for Inez in Outer Worlds 2. Read on to learn how to recruit Inez, what her best Graft is, what her best build is, and what her best perks and upgrades are.

Which is the Best Graft for Inez?
Crabble for Offense, Raptidon for Support
Upon recruiting Inez, she will ask you to help her find an alternate graft to replace her own failed graft. The quest, Better than Nature, will have you hunt down a Skeleton Crabble and a Raptidon Matriarch, which will then be grafted onto Inez.
Picking the Crabble Graft will turn Inez into a DPS character, capable of shooting hot plasma at enemies. Choosing the Raptidon Graft, on the other hand, turns her into a Support character, as her graft allows her to shoot healing and buffing projectiles at her party members.
We highly suggest getting the Raptidon Graft, as your only other healing and support companion is VALERIE.
Crabble Graft or Raptidon Graft?
Ursopod for General Use, Mantisaur for Melee Combat
After sparing Dr. Rasmussen during the A Most Extraordinary Specimen, you will get a choice on whether to graft an additional Ursopod Mucus Gland or Mantiswarm Hive to Inez.
Picking the Ursopod Graft will make Inez's healing mist have a temporary health shield, while choosing the Mantisaur Graft lets her spawn a mantiswarm that terrifies any opponent inside the radius.
We highly suggest getting the Ursopod Graft as temporary health shield is practical in both offensive and defensive situations, making Inez's healing mist miles better than VAL's quick heals.

How to Unlock Inez
Recruited After Milverstreet or Kaur's Quest
While looking for a way to infiltrate the Vox Relay in Paradise Island, you can ask for help from either Minister Milverstreet (A Refreshing Bit of News) or Acquisitions Officer Kaur ( Above and Beyond Repair). Their respective quests will send you to the Ministry of Accuracy, where you will first encounter Inez standing over a dead Raptidon.
After finishing your task in the Ministry of Accuracy and returning to Fairfield, you will encounter Inez again in the town hall. Talking to her again and offering to take her in will allow you to recruit her as a companion.
Should You Help Kaur or Milverstreet?

Make sure to recruit Inez before finishing The Saboteur of Paradise as this can prevent you from recruiting her.

Can Despawn In Certain Situations
It was possible for Inez to become unavailable for recruitment thanks to a bug that caused Inez to despawn and go missing.
This issue has since been fixed with Hotfix 1.0.4.0.

Inez's Advanced Mod Kit |
Companion Quests not only tell you more about a companion, but can also provide Mod Kits that can upgrade your companion's weapon and armor. As such, always try to do Companion Quests when they become available.
Specific only to Inez, your choice on whether or not to kill or spare the doctor will result in two different quests. Sparing lets you do the Half Truths in Advertisement quest, while killing the doctor will grant you the Full Measures quest.

The effect of Inez's Ability, The Magic Bullet, will change based on your decision during the quest Better Than Nature. Choosing to graft the Crabble onto her will turn her Ability into a more offensive one that shoots armor-piercing attacks at enemies. Grafting the Raptidon, on the other hand, will instead allow her to heal the entire party.
Her Combat Drugs trait gives Inez a temporary buff that increases her Rate of Fire and Accuracy, and can be improved with her Armor Upgrades. Unlicensed Chemist, on the other hand, increases the amount of Medical Inhaler charge that you get whenever you pick up drugs.
Role in Party
Inez's role will change depending on which creature you decide to graft onto her. Grafting the Crabble onto her will turn her into a DPS character, while grafting the Raptidon will turn her into more of a Support for the party, providing either healing or offensive buffs.
Additionally, as she has an assault rifle equipped, she can engage from medium to long ranges, allowing her to engage the enemy from relative safety and deal large amounts of damage.

Experimental Primer Research Inez crafts a custom primer that, when used, applies a buff that heals you whenever your party kills an enemy. This has very low toxicity usage. |

Self Betterment While in the party, your inhaler heals more and makes your party Undamageable for a short period of time. |

When running her as a Defensive Support, Inez serves as the party's primary medic, with Perks like Field Medicine, Medical Graft Research, and Emergency Procedures keeping the team alive through various means. Additionally, Experimental Primer Research and Self Betterment improve your Medical Inhaler.
Get Experimental Biomass Conversion to sometimes provide Crude Biomass, which can be used for either Medical Inhaler charges or for ammo crafting. Lastly, make sure to get the Raptidon Graft during Inez's first Companion Quest, Better than Nature. Make sure to also get the Ursopod Mucus Gland Graft to further improve her support capabilities.

As an Offensive Support character, on the other hand, Inez focuses on buffing herself and her party to deal more damage. Surgical Strike allows her to hit more accurately and stun enemies, while Lethal Graft Research and Drug Diffusion Modification buffs the entire party, allowing them to deal even more damage.
Similar to the build above, get Experimental Biomass Conversion for the occasional Crude Biomass, as well as the Raptidon Graft during Inez's first Companion Quest, Better than Nature. Additionally, get the Mantiswarm Hive Graft to give Inez crowd control capabilities.

Medical Bio-Barrel and Auto-Loader are the best upgrades for Inez's Rifle, as not only does it convert her damage to corrosive, but it also allows her to continuously fire without reloading.
As for Inez's Body Armor, Acid-Resistant Materials and Accuracy Drug Enhancements are the best upgrades, as they make her immune to Corrosive damage's side effects, while also increasing her damage whenever her Combat Drugs kick in.
It's important to note, however, that you can freely change upgrades during your travels, allowing you to adjust to what you need.
