New Game Plus in the Chrono Cross Remaster: The Radical Dreamers Edition allows you to replay the game with most of your weapons, Elements, and stats carrying over. Read on to learn more about New Game Plus, how to unlock it, and its features.
List of Contents
After you beat the game for the first time, you'll be prompted to save your game. Doing so will create a new Game Cleared
save file that also shows the stars you've collected in that save file. Upon loading this save file, you will now be presented with the options for NG+ and Continue+.
NG+ | Continue + |
---|---|
Allows you to replay the game from the start with most of the stats, elements, equipment, and items from your Clear Save Data transferred over. | Allows you to select a different save file to continue from a certain point with some of the stats, elements, equipment, and items from the Clear Save Data transferred over. |
New Game Plus offers several quality-of-life improvements that will let you avoid having to grind everything out for your second run. Having most of your equipment carry over will also allow for more variety in succeeding playthroughs.
The Relief Charm is an item that allows you to switch Serge out of the party for battles. This can be useful to better customize your party against certain battles and to better strengthen your core team.
How to Get the Relief Charm Key Item
The Time Egg can be used to end the game whenever you'd like. To conclude the story, use the Time Egg on the Purple Portal in Opassa Beach. Depending on your advancements in the game, you will get to see one of the various endings of Chrono Cross.
Battles and explorations that used to take several minutes will now only take short moments thanks to this handy feature in New Game Plus. Improve the gameplay experience by speeding up combat, and slowing down the Viper Mansion mini-game.
In New Game Plus, new Bosses Ozzie, Slash, and Flea can now be fought in The Bend of Time. It can be quite a challenge, but winning rewards you with several strong pieces of equipment.
You may also equip Sprigg with the Forget-Me-Not Pot to defeat each of the bosses so that you may summon them with Doppelgang at other points throughout the game.
New Game Plus also lets you recruit characters you have recruited in your previous playthroughs.
Simply visit Sprigg's home by using the Astral Amulet on the portal in Hydra Marshes (Home World) after completing the Fort Dragonia (Home World) quest and use the Chrono Cross to summon the characters that were in your roster when you defeated the final boss in your previous playthrough.
You have to play the game four times to be able to get all the characters.
Much like NG+, Continue+ will work the same way as a NG+ except you start on the same area where that save is currently at. This is efficient for ending hunting if you have saves on each story arc where an ending can get unlocked.
