How to Beat Black Dragon

Cast Diminish Immediately

Diminish

The Black Dragon is no joke compared to the previous Dragon boss fights. It is highly recommended to cast Diminish first thing in order to halve the damage of its attacks.

Not only are the Black Dragon's Elemental attacks powerful, but it will also cast Genius to further its damage on another level.

Steal the Black Plate Next

Fargo Black Plate

Using Fargo's Tech Skill Pillage, make sure you snag the Black Dragon's Black Plate drop, as this item is exclusive to the Black Dragon. It's worth noting that by equipping the Black Plate, the wearer will be able to absorb any Black Elemental attacks and gain health in the process.

Exploit its Weakness to White Elements

Holy Light on Black Dragon

Given that the Black Dragon is a Black-innate boss, you can take advantage of its weakness by using high-leveled White Elements like Holy Light and Meteor Shower.

Finding the balance between using White Elements and healing is vital for this boss battle and slipping at least once can lead to serious consequences.

General Tips

White-Innate Characters are at a Disadvantage

The Black Dragon automatically targets all White-innate characters and will take them down immediately before they could even lift a finger.

Instead, bring non-White Element characters and equip them with White Elemental attacks to take advantage of the Black Dragon's Elemental weakness!

Casting Negate Magic on a White-Innate

Alternatively, you can cast Negate Magic to a White-innate character to be temporarily marked safe from the Black Dragon's Tech Skills. However, they are still susceptible to physical attacks so be careful still!

Heal Consistently

It is recommended to heal when your health goes any lower than 75 percent, as the Black Dragon's Tech Skills and normal attacks can deal massive damage to your party.

Consider healing before ending your turn to make sure you can take any attacks the Black Dragon will throw at you!
