Serge Ultimate Weapon

Mastermune is Serge's Ultimate Weapon

While the Rainbow Weapon of Serge, the Spectra Swallow has higher attack power than the Mastermune, the Mastermune is still the better weapon due to its high critical rate.

Pair the Mastermune with accessories that increase Serge's attack alongside the Sunglasses equip, Serge will be a force to be reckoned and deal explosive damage.

Serge Story Explained

This section contains spoilers for the main story of Chrono Cross.

Encounter With the Frozen Flame

Serge's story dates back to his youth, when he got heavily wounded by a panther. This encounter with the panther was his first contact with the Frozen Flame, which healed Serge of his wounds, but slowly corrupted the mind of his father Wazuki, who was with his son at the time.

Years later, Serge's life was at risk once more when the corrupted Wazuki attempts to drown Serge only to be saved by a time traveling Kid. In an attempt to rescue Serge's life, the corrupted Wazuki alongside his friend Miguel, set sail to Marbule in hopes of finding a way to save his life. However, due to a massive storm, the three got sent off course to Chronopolis - which was all a part of FATE's plan, a super computer designated to harness the power of the Frozen Flame and bring forth Lavos in the process.

Serge as the Arbiter and FATE

Serge's contact with the Frozen Flame granted him the title of Arbiter, which made him the key to access and harness the full capacity of the Frozen Flame.

With the Frozen Flame inaccessible for the super computer, FATE came up with an elaborate scheme to attain Serge's body and gain access to the Frozen Flame by using the corrupted Wazuki as its vessel. This vessel would later be known as Lynx.

Meanwhile, the time traveling Kid manages to save Serge and bring him back to Arni while Wazuki, under the influence of FATE, completes his transformation and Miguel being stuck in the Sea of Eden for many years.

Beginning of the Journey

Kid saving Serge split the timeline in two: one where Serge is alive, known as the Home World, while another with Serge dead, known as the Another World.

Ten years after Serge's rescue is where the events of the game begin. With Serge learning the existence of a world where he does not exist, he sets off to a journey alongside Kid and a variety of characters that will aid him to his quest of uncovering the truth behind his existence as well as his role in the grand scheme of things.

Serge and Kid Romance

Given that Serge is a silent protagonist, it is difficult to know whether or not Serge has feelings for Kid - although it is speculated by many fans that he and Kid share the same feelings for one another.

On the other hand, it is hinted at throughout the game that Kid has feelings for Serge. An instance of this would be when Serge meets Kid at Termina (Another World) with Leena in the party. Upon seeing the two, Kid will get jealous and storm out.

During the True Ending cutscene, a picture frame will be shown with an older Kid/Schala next to a man, possibly her husband, Serge.

Serge and Leena

Leena is one of the earliest characters players will meet in Chrono Cross. Growing up together in the small village of Arni, they have grown close to one another and are good friends.

It is heavily implied throughout many cutscenes that Leena has a crush on Serge, making her giggle and excited after he tells her that he remembers the promise he made to her when they were little.

Alongside Kid and Magil, Serge is one of the protagonists of the text-based adventure game, Radical Dreamers.

Radical Dreamers' story is presented through Serge's point of view and chronicles the journey of the band of thieves as they make their way to Viper Manor to face off against Lynx and take the Frozen Flame.
