It's no surprise that Chrono Cross boasts a wide variety of characters; with over 40 recruits throughout the entire game.

Throughout your journey across El Nido, Serge will come across people who will give him frames that give the player's text boxes a bit of character.
There are 12 more frames you can unlock other than the starting 4, and some much harder to get than the others!

Sprigg is one of the more unique characters in Chrono Cross where her only ability is to take a form of an enemy through her Tech Skill, Doppelgang.

The Level 7 Tech Skill of a character in Chrono Cross is their ultimate move, but you would have to go through extra steps to unlock it for some than just collecting Star Levels.

How to Unlock All Level 7 Tech Skills
Another set of things worth collecting and completing in Chrono Cross are the Weapons and Armor. Some can be rarer than the next, like the Rainbow Weapons and the like, as well as secret weapons that can only be unlocked from sidequests like the Mastermune!
There are hundreds of Elemental Abilities to collect, from normal Elemental attacks, Trappable Elements, to the rare Elemental Summons! Be sure to collect them all to earn yourself that 100 percent completion badge!

There are a couple of optional bosses scattered throughout Chrono Cross, but the ones that stand out are the New Game Plus bosses Ozzie, Flea, and Slash, Dario and his entire sidequest, as well as the game's superboss, Criosphinx.
