Head North of Zappa's Smithy Tell Him Your Intentions with the Frozen Flame

Recruit Van at Termina (Home World)

Head North of Zappa's Smithy

As Lynx, go to Van's house past Zappa's Smithy in Termina (Home World). Go inside the house and proceed to the room on the right-hand side.

Tell Him Your Intentions with the Frozen Flame

Speak to Van in his room and watch the scene play out with the landlord.

Afterwards, say that you are serious about finding the Frozen Flame. Upon hearing this, Van will join your party.

Power Can Be Increased with Savings

You can add more power to Van's Piggy Boink by depositing money to his Piggy Boink. Each 100G added increases the damage by 3% up to a maximum of 21% damage increase. Adding more increases the risk of the piggy bank breaking.

Van Story Explained

Misery in Both Worlds

Van, both in Home and Another World, has a tough relationship with money. Serge can first meet Van in Termina (Another World), where Van is wealthy, but unhappy due to the fact that his father focuses more on earning money than spending time with his son.

On the other hand, the Home World Van is poor and about to be evicted of his home due to his father's painting career not taking off.

It's Not All About Money

Once the Van you recruit sees his counterpart, he realizes that his situation is rather complex - that the way his father acts in both worlds is his way of coping with the loss of his wife and it's hard to put the blame on anyone because no one is actually at fault of their actions.

Van later understands that true wealth lies in the will to keep on going for the sake of their loved ones despite all adversity. He carries this thought with him as he journeys alongside Serge to find the Frozen Flame, hoping that it will give his loved ones a better future ahead.
