Chrono Cross Remaster: Radical Dreamers

How to Farm Shiny Materials

You'll need to farm lots of Shiny Materials in order to forge some of the strongest equipment in the game like rainbow weapons and spectral weapons. Read on to find out the best way to obtain every shiny material in Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition!

How to Get Shiny Crafting Materials

Defeat Enemies Using the Related Summon's Element

Shiny Crafting Materials are obtained by defeating enemies using summons. Which of the 6 possible shiny materials you get from battle is determined solely by the summon element you use, which makes farming them easily controllable (though difficult to achieve since you need a single-color field of the summon to cast it). Below is the list of Shiny Crafting Materials and their corresponding summon element you need to defeat the enemy with to produce each one.

Material Element Recommended
Summon
Shiny Dew Blue ★Blue Whale
★Frog Prince
Shiny Ember Red ★Salamander
★Red Wolf
Shiny Leaf Green ★Genie

How to Farm Shiny Materials

Use Summons Against Enemies of Same Element

Summons require a full field of that summon's particular element in order to be used, so fighting against enemies of the same element will make it easy to get a full field of the same color. For instance, if you want to farm Shiny Dew, you can use ★Blue Whale or ★Frog Prince summons against Blue Element enemies.

Best Areas for Each Element

White Drongo and Dodo at Fossil Valley Home World
Can be reliable by baiting a Dodo's Peck to hasten a white field. Use a photon ray at a Dodo to instantly get two whie elements on the field by causing the Dodo to counter.
Black Shadow Cats in Fossil Valley Another World
Red Hot Doggity at Mount Pyre (Home and Another)
Blue Schoolmates in El Nido Triangle Another World
Green Bulbs inn Shadow Forest Home World
Yellow Cassowaries on Shadow Forest Home World or Puffies in El Nido Triangle Another World

Use Field Spells

This may not apply to the white and black element but for the four remaining color, you can combo two characters into using a field spell while another character follows it up with a summon. This can ensure an easy cast of the summon without requiring a lengthy setup.

Fight the Mannequeens in the Dead Sea

The Dead Sea is a temporarily accessible area in the game. It will not be accessible anymore after defeating Miguel, the main boss of the area. We highly recommend the Mannequeens as they don't use any elements at all which makes setting the field to a pure color much easier.

Can Be Re-Fought at Bend of Time

If you missed out on the Mannequins at the Dead Sea, they can still be fough on the 2nd to the last upper portal in Bend of Time. Take note that the rest of the enemies from the Dead Sea may also be encountered randomly here, so it is not as reliable as the original Mannequeens. If you encounter enemies other than the Mannequeens, simply run away from the battle.

What Are Shiny Materials

Rare Crafting Materials

Shiny Crafting materials are rare items that are difficult to obtain without the proper setup and is required to craft most of the strongest weapons and accessories in the game.

Only Obtainable Via Summon Kills

To obtain each type of a shiny material, you'll have to kill enemies with a summon of a certain element. The aforementioned element for each material is listed on the table above.

Earliest Time to Start Farming Shiny Material

After Obtaining the Frog Prince

The Frog Prince is the earliest summons you can get in the game. It can allow you to start farming Shiny Dews from battles.
