Recruit Glenn by Refusing to Save Kid and Progressing Through the Story

Glenn is available to recruit after defeating Lynx in Viper Manor (Another World). At the start of the Guldove (Another World) chapter, you'll be presented with a choice to save Kid. It is important that you perform the following actions precisely as they are written, as skipping any of these steps can lock you out of getting Glenn.

Refuse to Help Kid

The first step in being able to recruit Glenn is to refuse to get the Hydra Humour to help Kid during the Guldove (Another World) chapter.

Complete this step and refuse to help Kid by simply choosing ...I don't know and ...There's nothing we can do as your responses to Korcha. Don't worry, as Kid lives through this predicament whether you help her or not.

Should You Save Kid?

Ask to Borrow Korcha's Boat

Next, Korcha will storm off to the top of the blue tent (where you previously woke up). Tell him you want to borrow his boat. First, he will refuse, but Macha will appear and force him to let you use the boat.

Visit the Dragon Shrine in Guldove

Before you're allowed to leave Guldove, you'll need to speak to Direa in the Dragon Shrine, which is in the top section of the green tent in the left part of town. Speak to Direa and Steena to get some backstory, save the game if you wish, then head out of the tent and all the way right to where the boat is docked.

Return to Termina with Macha

From here, tell Macha you're ready to return to Termina by boat. This begins the Termina After Viper Manor (Another World) chapter.

Listen to Glenn's Conversation at the Town Entrance

Head back to the entrance of the town. From there, listen to Glenn's conversation with a flower lady.

If you miss out on Glenn's conversation at the entrance of Termina, he will not ask you to share a boat ride and you will be locked out from recruiting him.

Return to the Boat and Share a Ride with Glenn

Finally, go back to the boat where Macha is waiting. Tell her you want to Straighten things out (your response here does not matter). Glenn will arrive after you talk to Macha and ask to share the boat ride. Choose Let him join and you'll recruit him. Later on in the conversation, you'll also be able to recruit Macha.

Giving Glenn the Bellflower is Not Required

In Fossil Valley (Another World), Serge can pick up a Bellflower that Glenn is looking for later in Termina (Another World).

Giving Glenn the Bellflower is not a prerequisite to recruiting him and has no effect on the story other than accessing extra lore and dialogue.

How to Dual Wield Glenn's Einlanzers

Glenn is unique in that he is the only character who can dual wield Einlanzers in the game. Equipping both legendary weapons to Glenn will make him an unstoppable force (as if he wasn't strong enough already!). Follow these steps to aquire both swords.

Defeat Garai to Get Einlanzer (One)

The first Einlanzer can be acquired by completing Isle of the Damned (Home Word) from the main storyline. Defeating Garai will get you the first Einlanzer, which you can equip to Glenn right away.

How to Get Einlanzer (One)

Visit Glenn's Father's Grave in Termina (Another World) to Get Einlanzer (Two)

After Serge returns to his original body during the Fort Dragonia (Home World) quest, you can take Glenn to his father's grave in Termina (Another World). The legendary sword Einlanzer, sticks atop of his grave ready to be inherited by Glenn.

After taking the second Einlanzer, equip it to Glenn alongside the first Einlanzer in order to receive a massive stat boost. This, along with his Dual Tech Skill X-Strike with Serge makes him one of the strongest characters in the game.

Glenn Story Explained

Is Glenn Frog from Chrono Trigger?

Many fans speculate whether Glenn is the human form of Chrono Trigger's Frog, as they share the same name back when Frog was still human.

They also sport a similar appearance, both in armor and in donning a sword and shield as their primary weapon. Even though there has been no official confirmation whether the two are one and the same, it is at least acknowledged by fans that Glenn of Chrono Cross is a nod to Frog of Chrono Trigger.

The Iconic X-Strike

Additionally, Serge and Glenn's Dual Tech Skill, X-Strike, share the same name as Crono and Frog's attack, obviously an homage to the heroes of the previous title.

Glenn's Youth

Glenn, apart from being recognized as a formidable swordsman by the Acacia Dragoons, is also known for being the younger brother of the late Dario, formerly one of the Dragoon Devas.

Growing up, Glenn along with Riddel, would watch Karsh and Dario spar next to Zappa's Smithy. Glenn took inspiration with the two and would often train as well, even joining competitions wherein he places behind Karsh and Dario respectively.

Becoming a Dragoon

After the death of his brother Dario, Glenn's convictions of becoming a member of the Acacia Dragoons grew stronger. When he became a member of the Dragoons, he would often visit Dario's grave in Termina and share his experiences as a soldier, bringing along flowers each time.

Inheriting the Einlanzer

After Serge is reborn, visiting Dario's grave with Glenn will trigger a brief cutscene of him inheriting the Einlanzer, his most powerful weapon in the game. With this, the wielder of the Einlanzer are as follows: Garai, Dario, and finally, Glenn.
