Recruit Leah in Gaea's Navel (Home World)
Temporarily Joins Upon Reaching Gaea's Navel
Leah approaches the party at Gaea's Navel (Home World) and offers to help navigate the creature-infested area. She will then temporarily join the party.
Defeat the Green Dragon
After defeating the Green Dragon, Leah will permanently join Serge's party to learn more about the world beyond Gaea's Navel and find out the truth about her parents.

Leah Story Explained
Connections with Ayla and Her Father
Leah is speculated to have fallen into a different timeline entirely judging that she is the sole human at Gaea's Navel, with no sight of the villagers and family she speaks of.
Many believe that she is originally from the prehistoric period, with possible connections with Ayla, one of the protagonists of Chrono Trigger. In addition, should Leah's mother be Ayla, many speculate that her father would be Kino from Chrono Trigger, seeing as how he was openly fond of Ayla.
Homage to Old Art
Another thing that many point out when saying that Leah comes from the prehistoric times is her overall art style, resembling that of Chrono Trigger's character designer, Akira Toriyama.
It is speculated that following the Toriyama art style in a way serves as an homage to the artist as well as a hint as to where she is placed chronologically.
