Go to the Underground Passage Help the Father Out Give the Mushroom to the Man

Recruit Funguy By Giving the Mushroom to the Man in Shadow Forest (Home World)

Go to the Underground Passage

Go through the underground passage toward Viper Manor. If you recruited Nikki beforehand, you may have previously rolled a boulder to stop the bugs underground. If you did, there will be a child looking for his father.

Alternatively, if you did not block the hole, you will need to fight off a Wraith. There, a man will hop out and give you a special Mushroom. Afterwards, you can immediately proceed to giving the mushroom to the man under the waterfall.

Help the Father Out

Assuming you did block the hole with the boulder, head back down and look for the unmoving Gerridae, interact with it to send it hopping away, allowing the father to come back out. He will give you a special Mushroom for helping him out.

Give the Mushroom to the Man

Afterwards, go inside the cave under the waterfall. Walk to the very end where you'll meet a man searching for the rare mushroom. Watch a short cutscene and let Funguy join your party.

Bring Funguy to Shadow Forest (Home World)

To obtain Funguy's Level 7 Tech Skill, you'll have to bring Funguy to Shadow Forest's Homeworld. From there, proceed to the area where you first met Funguy to see a little mushroom there.

Choose to Eat the Little Mushroom

After interacting with the little mushroom in the cave and choosing to eat it, the little mushroom will plead for its life calling Funguy its daddy. The little mushroom is a child born from Funguy's spore, after realizing this, Funguy gets his Level 7 Tech Skill, Myconoids.

Only Doable After Terra Tower Rises

This trigger can only happen after Terra Tower rises from the ground. If the little mushroom in the area is not appearing, progress the game's storyline more.

Funguy Story Explained

Obsession Over Fungi and Mushrooms

As a human, Funguy was obsessive over fungi and mushrooms. He was known to grow and cultivate them, as well as scrutinize every detail of the fungi and mushrooms he finds with awe.

When Serge and his allies hand him the special mushroom that he immediately eats, he transformed into the mushroom man we all know him to be. This causes him great stress and joins Serge in finding the Frozen Flame in hopes of turning him back to normal.

Meeting His Counterpart

If you brought Funguy to his Another World counterpart in Termina, he will see his other self, a human, being tended to by his daughter. It is later revealed how his obsession and rashness are the root of his problems, which extends to his family as well.

In hopes not to burden anyone with his actions anymore, he vowed to be more careful of his actions and consider how it will affect those that surround him as well.
