Strange Messages can only be unlocked after raising your Inter-Knot level up to 34. Do the commissions during Chapter 2 Interlude Intemission to raise your reputation level.

Reach Inter-Knot Level 34

Strange Messages Unlock

During Chapter 2 Interlude Intermission, you will be required to raise your Inter-Knot Level up to level 34. After reaching level 34, return to Random Play and watch the TV with your sibling.

Watch the cutscenes that will lead you to unlocking this commission.

Complete the Commission Using the HDD

Go and access the HDD System after the cutscenes that play to do this commission.

Strange Messages Hollow Guide

Step-By-Step Guide

  1. Get Observation Data 1
  2. Proceed Until Meeting Unusual Enemy
  3. Proceed to the Light Bulb
  4. Get the Handheld Xenon Flashlight
  5. Get the Kaleido Flashlight
  6. Use the Booster
  7. Get Observation Data 2 and Open the Light Bulb
  8. Get Observation Data 3

Get Observation Data 1

Observation Data 1

The whole map will have no lights making it hard to navigate. Go up and then go to the first left that you can take to get to the first Observation Data. You will need to fight an enemy first before getting to the data.

Proceed Until Meeting Unusual Enemy

From observation data 1, go to the left and then go up then left again to continue onwards until you encounter an unusual enemy. It will automatically send you back to the starting point but it's no cause for worry.

Proceed to the Light Bulb

From the start, follow the same path you took and you will notice that the unusual enemy isn't there anymore. Go proceed onwards until you see a light bulb which will illuminate the portion of the map where the bulb is.

After this you will encounter the unusual enemy again but it will run up to the top avoiding the light.

Get the Handheld Xenon Flashlight

Follow the direction of the unusual enemy. Ride the conveyor belt that you see on the way. Go left then go north and you will encounter the unusual enemy who will follow you.

Proceed onwards again until you see the Handheld Xenon Flashlight that you can use to remove unidentified creatures within 4 tiles. Immediately use this flashlight against the enemy who is following you.

Take note that the flashlight that you have will only have 3 uses.

Get the Kaleido Flashlight

Proceed to the top and then continue to the left until you see a locked valve where you need to pay 5000 Gear Coins.

At this point, you should have enough if you follow the steps so far so open it and you can obtain 1 Handheld Xenon Flashlight and a Kaleido Flashlight which will automatically display adjacent areas.

Use the Booster

From the Kaleido Flashlight's position, continue up north until you see the unusual enemy and a booster to the left. Go ride the booster to send you to your next location.

Get Observation Data 2 and Open the Light Bulb

After getting launched by the booster, proceed forward to get another Handheld Xenon Flashlight. Use it to remove the unusual enemy in front of you.

Proceed onward until you see an enemy that you must defeat to unlock the tiles adjacent to it. Get the second observation data to the right and use the light bulb at the bottom to illuminate the area.

Continue going to the right then onwards and then proceed to the top to proceed towards the light bulb.

After illuminating the area, you will see the final observation data and the exit of the Hollow where you'll fight the final enemies of this commission.
