Zenless Zone Zero How to Level Up Characters
Levelling up characters is essential if you want to take on harder challenges in Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ). Check out how to level up your agents and what materials you'll need to do so.

How to Level Up Characters

Use Agent Exp. Materials

Agent Level Up
If you want to level up your Agents, you'll need to use Investigator Logs. Each tier will give a different amount of experience, specifically 100, 600, and 3000 Exp. respectively.

Thankfully, you'll come across a lot of Investigator Logs just from playing the game.

Defeating Enemies Doesn't Give Experience

Unlike other games, defeating enemies doesn't give Experience Points. The only way to level up a character is by using Investigator Logs.

Promote to Increase the Level Cap

Promote a Character to Increase the Level Cap
Once you reach certain level thresholds, you'll be capped out and can't level up anymore. To remove the cap, you'll need to promote the character by spending Certification Seals.

You can get these seals by participating in Combat Simulations in the HIA Club. However, the seal needs to be the same Speciality as the Agent that you will promote.

Skill Enhancement
Whenever you level up a character, it will also unlock new Skill Enhancement levels. Similar to the level cap, you'll need to reach certain level thresholds before you can continue upgrading a Skill.

Besides that, you'll also need Attribute Chips of the character's Attribute to level up a Skill. Like Certification Seals, you can get them from Combat Simulations in the HIA Club.

Don't Forget to Enhance Core Skills

Core Skill Enhancement
Similar to regular skills, you'll also unlock new Core Skill levels whenever you reach certain level thresholds. Don't forget to upgrade these alongside your regular skills since these are powerful passives that will always be available.

As for the level up materials, you'll need unique Core Skill enhancement materials to upgrade them. Always keep them on hand so that you aren't left with un-upgraded Core Skill.
