How to Daze and Stun

Repeatedly attacking an enemy in Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) fills its Daze Gauge and eventually Stuns them. Learn how to build up Daze and stun an enemy, and how to Stun effectively here!

How to Daze and Stun Enemies

Repeatedly Attack Enemies

Daze Meter Stunned in Zenless Zone Zero

Hitting enemies with Basic Attacks, Special Attacks, and EX Special Attacks fills up their Daze Gauge. You can find the enemy's Daze Gauge just below their health bar. This meter fills up and becomes yellow as you continually attack an enemy. Once it's full, the enemy becomes Stunned—immobilizing them and increasing the damage they take.

Stun Characters Are Best Used

Stun Characters are the best at accumulating daze. These characters have higher-than-normal Impact scaling which is the stat that dictates how much the daze meter accumulates.

Anomaly Buildup Does Not Build Stun

Anomaly Meter

Anomaly buildup due to attribute or elemental attacks do not build Stun, instead, they have a separate meter that builds up and causes debuffs when filled up.

Enemies Get Stunned When The Daze Meter is Filled

When the enemy's Daze gauge gets filled up, the meter will strobe in multiple rainbow colors. While in this state, enemies will stop moving and take higher damage as indicated by the multiplier below the gauge.

The Daze gauge will also decrease over time, therefore you have to drop all your attacks while the enemy is stunned. This is usually where you should use your Ultimates or perform Chain Attacks for maximum damage.

Use Heavy Attacks on Stunned Enemies to Perform Chain Attacks

Chain Attack

To deal even more damage on a Stunned enemy, you can use a strong attack to perform Chain Attacks.

Chain Attacks allow you to switch to a different character while performing strong combo attacks. Players can usually do 3 to 4 chain attacks, depending on the number of characters in your team and if you have a Bangboo equipped.

What are Considered Strong Attacks?

  • Final attack of a Basic Attack string
  • Counterattack after evading
  • Special Attacks or EX Special Attacks
  • Chain Attacks

How to Stun Enemies Effectively

Use Stun Characters

Stun characters are exceptional at accumulating daze and filling up the daze gauge. They have a higher Impact stat so they can effectively build stun while dealing damage.

When building a team, always slot in a Stun character if you're aiming to stun enemies.

Choose Supports Last in Chain Attacks

Chain Attacks are attacks that activate when an enemy is stunned. Towards the end of the chain attacks, however, the daze gauge is usually almost empty and the enemies will regain composure.

On that note, we suggest dropping all your damage dealers at the start of the chain attack to maximize the damage dealt.

Then, at the last chain attack, use your Support character and drop all their buffs. This buffs the next daze buildup phase, making it easier for you to stun enemies for the second time.
