W-Engines are divided into different ranks, S, A, and B, according to their efficiency in combat and ease of use. While aiming at getting S-Rank W-Engines is recommended, do not dismiss A-Rank weapons as they are also a viable substitute.
| W-Engine (Weapon) Specialties | |||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
W-Engines are categorized into 6 Specialties suited for an Agent's unique playstyle. Players can only equip W-Engines to the Agent with the same specialty type.

W-Engines are the equivalent of weapons in Zenless Zone Zero; thus, each Agent can only equip one W-Engine. Keep in mind that Agents can only equip a W-Engine with their corresponding Specialty type.

Equipping W-Engines also gives the respective Agent access to buffs that can be used during battle. Each W-Engine has a different effect, so make sure to read the effects on each weapon to see if it fits with your Agents' playstyle!

When you equip an Agent with its Signature W-Engine, it will have an Exclusive Skin effect while in combat. There is also an option where you can disable it on the Equipment menu for the selected Agent.

W-Engines can be obtained through the ZZZ's gacha system, Signal Search. You'll need Master Tapes and Encrypted Master Tapes to pull from the gacha, which can be bought using Polychromes.

There is a Gadget Shop named Box Galaxy on Sixth Street where you can buy W-Engines using W-Engine modification materials, W-Engine Chips, and Dennies.
Both the W-Engine modification materials and W-Engine Chips can be obtained by recycling W-Engines that you don't use in the same Gadget Shop.

You can also get certain W-Engines from the Proxy Primer by completing missions. Proxy Primer trials can be completed naturally as you progress through the game.

Upgrading W-Engines requires W-Engine Power Sources. This increases their level along with their Base ATK.

Once the W-Engine hits its current level cap, you can Modify it with W-Engine Components to increase the level cap and its Advanced Stats.

If you happen to have duplicates of a W-Engine, you can use them to Overclock the copy that you are using to improve the W-Engine's effect. You can Overclock a W-Engine four times before it becomes a 5-star gear and has its unique effect maxed out.
