Main Commissions, also known as Phaethon's Story, serve as missions that follow the main story of Zenless Zone Zero. Each chapter consists of multiple subquests that you need to complete to move on to the next. These quests are typically colored gold or yellow on the HDD.

Side Commissions are mostly optional missions you can take to earn more Inter-Knot Credits and Observation Data. These are colored blue on the schedule and HDD. These include Exploration and Combat Commissions on the HDD as well as City and Trust Commissions on the field.

Exploration Commissions

Exploration Commissions are side commissions where you travel to the Hollow and navigate around it. These quests usually involve investigations and puzzles.

Combat Commissions are side quests that involve completing combat objectives in the Hollow. These require you to consider your team setup and Bangboo to finish this Side Commission.

Trust Commissions are side commissions that involve dialogue options that may increase your Trust with them. Trust quests can also rank up your relation with the Agent after raising trust to a high enough level. These become available during the Chapter 2 Interlude - Intermission after clearing Anby's Problem.

Unlike regular trust events, these are marked with a blue exclamation point just like other commissions.

City Commissions refer to side quests that take place in the game's different areas. These quests usually involve speaking with certain NPCs to complete the objective and are typically needed to get Mewmew medals.
