One of the strongest team comps so far is composed of Ellen Ellen as the DPS, Caesar as the Daze debuffer, and Soukaku as Support.

It is so far the best in terms of synergy with Ellen and Lycaon applying Ice with Soukaku providing ATK and Ice DMG buffs!

Standard Team with Zhu Yuan

Zhu Yuan is currently one of the strongest DPS units in-game thanks to her Enhanced Shellshot DMG. Zhu Yuan can work on multiple team comps that consist of one Stun unit and one Support unit.

Anomaly Team With Jane

Jane is a strong DPS who can deal a lot of Assault DMG to an enemy. Jane's team can either have another Anomaly unit with a different element to inflict Disorder on enemies or a Physical DPS to capitalize on Assault DMG.

Anby and Nicole is Your Early Game Core

Anby and Nicole, two characters that you can get for free in the early game, is a great investment that can carry you until you've collected more powerful characters towards the mid-game.

Corin could be a DPS alternative, but if you are able to obtain Anton via gacha, exchange with him to have a significant boost in damage output.

This Physical team has Jane deal a massive amount of Assault DMG. Seth and Caesar can both provide shields and provide Anomaly Proficiency and ATK buffs respectively.

Fire Team

Soldier 11	Koleda	Lucy

Lucy can provide ATK buffs and additional damage thanks to her Guard Boars. Koleda can deal a lot of Daze damage and increase the party's Chain Attack DMG on stunned enemies.

After Koleda stuns the enemy, switch to Lucy and use her EX Special Attack then Quick Assist to Soldier 11.

Ice Team

Lycaon and Soukaku can help buff Ellen with Ice RES Shred and ATK buffs respectively. Start with Lycaon to stun the enemy and then switch to Soukaku to collect Vortex stacks.

Once Soukaku collects enough Vortex stacks, switch to Ellen to transfer the ATK buff.

Nicole can reduce the DEF of enemies while Zhu Yuan can deal a massive amount of damage with her Enhanced Shotshells.

Qingyi is the suitable Stun unit here since she can increase the Stun Multiplier, allowing Zhu Yuan to deal even more damage to stunned enemies.

Once again, Koleda and Ben synergize with each other and help buff Anton. Ideally, you would want to use Koleda until the enemy is almost stunned.

Burnice and Piper will be your DPS units. Use Burnice to trigger Burn on the enemy and then have Piper inflict Assault to deal a massive amount of Disorder DMG.

How to Build a Team

1. Get an Attacker, Debuffer, and Supporter

3. Have two or more Attributes in a Team
4. Find a Suitable Bangboo

① Get an Attacker, Debuffer, and Supporter

The most basic team composition rule to follow is to get an Attacker to deal damage, a debuffer that can Stun or accumulate Anomaly, and a Supporter from a Defense or Support character.

This is the most balanced team composition to maximize DPS and/or survivability.

② Find Common Grounds on Attributes and Factions

It is recommended to tweak your formation to activate all the character's Additional Ability. This greatly increases the team's powers so do not miss this. The general rule to always activate this is to have common attribute and/or faction across all the party members.

In the sample team composition above, Grace is able to activate her Additional Ability because Anby is also an Electric character. Anby's is also activated for the same reason. Finally, though Nicole is an Ether character, her Additional Ability is activated because Anby and herself are both from the same faction, Cunning Hares.

③ Have Two or More Attributes in a Team

In Zenless Zone Zero, attributes or elements can accumulate Anomaly that can produce different negative effects on enemies. In the instance that a current anomaly effect is overridden by a different anomaly effect from another attribute, it will trigger Disorder and deal additional damage.

Triggering Disorder is also an additional goal in building a team, as this damage can contribute to a faster, more efficient run. Having different attributes in a team will ensure that you are triggering Disorder all the time.

④ Find a Suitable Bangboo

Bangboos in Zenless Zone Zero have an additional Faction or Attribute requirement to maximize their effectiveness in battle. Make sure to choose a Bangboo that will activate its bonus based on the team that you have built.
