Decibel Rating and Ultimates Guides

The decibel rating is the number found at the upper left side of the screen that enables Ultimate attacks in Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ). Read on to learn what Decibel Rating is, how to use Ultimates, and the best time to use Ultimates in this guide!

What is a Decibel Rating?

Accumulates as You Attack

The decibel rating is the stylized number at the upper left side of your screen below your character health bars.

Accumulates Faster With Strong Attacks

You can build up the decibel rating by attacking enemies, which accumulates faster when doing actions like Chain Attacks, Dodge Counters, and Assist Follow-Ups.

Reach 3000 PTS to Activate Ultimates

The maximum points you can get in a single decibel accumulation phase is 3000 PTS. It is also the required points needed to activate any Ultimate.

Unless an Ultimate is used, players will stop accumulating decibel rating so make sure to use the Ultimate in the soonest, most efficient time.

How To Use Ultimate Attacks

Inactive and Active Ultimate

▲ Inactive VS Active Ultimates

To use Ultimate attacks, you must first increase your Decibel Rating to 3000. This is the very first requirement to be able to use any Ultimate in Zenless Zone Zero. You'll know that the Ultimate is activated if the Ultimate button turns orange from black.

Basic Combat Guide and Tips

Press the Ultimate Button When the Decibel Rating is Full

Once the Decibel Rating reaches maximum, press the Ultimate button to perform your active character's Ultimate attack. The Ultimate icon will also light up to indicate that it is ready to use.

Take note that the decibel rating that enables Ultimate usage is shared across your characters, so make sure the character you want to use is the active character before hitting the Ultimate button.

When To Use Ultimate Attacks

Use Ultimates When Enemy is Stunned

Use Ultimate When Enemies are Stunned

Filling up an enemy's Daze gauge causes them to enter the Stunned state, immobilizing them and increasing the damage they receive. This is the best time to use your reserved Ultimate to maximize the damage it deals.

How to Daze and Stun an Enemy

Use At the Start With Stun Characters

If you start a fight with a full Decibel Rating, you can use your Ultimate right away to take a chunk off the target's health instantly and enable decibel accumulation again as soon as possible. We suggest activating the Ultimate using a Stun character to accumulate daze and stun faster.
