The Decibel Rating is the number found at the upper left side of the screen that enables Ultimate attacks in Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ). See what Decibel Rating is, how to use Ultimates, and the best time to use Ultimates!
List of Contents
The Decibel Rating is the stylized number at the upper left side of your screen below your character health bars.
As of Version 1.4, each Agent now has their own independent Decibel Rating, determined by the yellow gauge beside their Energy Gauge.
You can build up the Decibel Rating by attacking enemies, which accumulates faster when doing actions like Chain Attacks, Dodge Counters, and Assist Follow-Ups.
The maximum points each Agent can get in a single decibel accumulation phase is 3000 points. It is also the required points needed to activate their respective Ultimates.
Unless an Ultimate is used, Agents will stop accumulating Decibel Rating, so make sure to use their Ultimate at the most opportune times according to your gameplay and strategy.
One of the major gameplay updates in Version 1.4 is that each Agent in your squad can now accumulate Decibels and cast their Ultimates independently.
This means there will be no more sharing of a single Decibel Rating, and each Agent can cast their Ultimates one after the other! Take this into consideration when formulating your parties and strategies.
▲ Inactive VS Active Ultimates
To use Ultimate attacks, an Agent must first reach a Decibel Rating of 3000.
This is the very first requirement to be able to use any Ultimate in Zenless Zone Zero. You'll know the Ultimate is activated if the Ultimate button turns orange from black.
Once the Decibel Rating reaches maximum, press the Ultimate button to perform your active character's Ultimate attack. The Ultimate icon will also light up to indicate that it is ready to use.
Now that Decibel Ratings are independent, be sure to switch to appropriate Agents according to your strategy! Using the Ultimates of certain Agents such as Burnice enables Quick Assists, which can be strategic.
How to Use Perfect and Quick Assists
Filling up an enemy's Daze gauge causes them to enter the Stunned state, immobilizing them and increasing the damage they receive.
This is the best time to use an Ultimate to maximize the damage of your attacks, especially when you're using an Attack Agent or any DPS Agent such as Jane or Miyabi.
If you are running a Chain Attack Team of any kind, using a Stun Agent's Ultimate can almost instantly stun an enemy, enabling Chain Attacks much faster.
Using this strategy can help take out a huge chunk of an opponent's HP.
Now that Ultimates can be used by each Agent, take time to really get to know your Agents' capabilities and take them into consideration when forming parties. That way, casting Ultimates consecutively will be beneficial.
For example, any attack by Soukaku that consumes Vortex for Fly the Flag increases the ATK and Ice DMG of the party. This includes her Ultimate. Cast it, then initiate a Quick Assist with Ellen or Miyabi for maximum DMG!
When push comes to shove, never hesitate to use your Ultimates! Not only will this make your character invulnerable, but it will also save you in a pinch when your strategy gets messed up.
Say you are running a Disorder Team with Burnice and Piper, and the former has Energy to spare while the latter has none. You can initiate Burn with Burnice's EX Special Attack, then cast Piper's Ultimate to keep up with your strategy!
