Zenless Zone Zero How Do Shields Work

How Do Shields Work?

Absorbs Damage

Shields

Shields absorb any incoming DMG. It is represented by the blue gauge laid over a character or enemy's HP. The durability of a shield usually depends on a certain percentage of a character's Max HP or DEF.

Enemy Shields Break Against Certain Attributes

Enemy Shields

During Commissions or excursions in Hollow Zero or Shiyu Defense, some enemies may be endowed with shields that, if left standing, can make for unnecessarily long battles and ultimately, lower ratings.

These shields are breakable after taking enough DMG, but in order to break them quickly, you have to hit enemies' Attribute Weaknesses. Normally, each enemy type is weak to one attribute, but this may still vary.

Defense Agents can provide shields to all party members with the use of their skills. Most prominently, Ben can give his teammates shields being the only Defense specialist released so far.

His EX Special Attack can grant shields to all party members after initiating a counterattack, and its durability is based off his Max HP. We will update this section once more suitable Agents have been released, so stay tuned!

Resonia Effects
Riot Helmet Resonia Riot Helmet Generates Shield for all squad members equal to 150% of their DEF upon entering the battlefield.
Catalyzed Effect: Generates Shield for all squad members equal to 200% of their DEF upon entering the battlefield.
War Boots Resonia War Boots Defeating an enemy generates Shield equal to 8% of Max HP for all squad members, lasting 10s. This effect can trigger once every 15s.
Catalyzed Effect: Defeating an enemy generates Shield equal to 12% of Max HP for all squad members, lasting 10s. This effect can trigger once every 15s.
Tactical Mask Resonia Tactical Mask Triggering Perfect Dodge grants the Agent Shield equal to 8% of Max HP for 5s. This effect can trigger once every 5s.
Catalyzed Effect: Triggering Perfect Dodge grants the Agent Shield equal to 12% of Max HP for 5s. This effect can trigger once every 5s.
Warm Bracers Resonia Warm Bracers When attacked, if the Agent's HP is below 25%, Immediately generate Shield equal to 15% of Max HP for 10s. (This effect can only be triggered once by each Agent in each combat.)
Catalyzed Effect: When attacked, if the Agent's HP is below 25%, Immediately generate Shield equal to 20% of Max HP for 10s. (This effect can only be triggered once by each Agent in each combat.)

Some Resonia can provide shields to Agents at the start of battle, may it be during Rally Commissions, Challenge Combat Commissions, or excursions in Hollow Zero.

If you feel like your characters are about to take significant DMG in the upcoming battle, it would be wise to avail these Resonia to help soften enemy blows.
