Ben Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths
• Provide shields through their EX Special Attack. • Provides a CRIT Rate increase to characters of the same faction or attribute through Ben's shield. • Has great synergy with Koleda since Ben needs to be on the same team as Koleda to activate certain mechanics of her kit. • The only Defense specialty character in the game. • A free character that can be unlocked in Chapter 2.
Weaknesses
• While Ben can be used in sub-optimal team comps during the early game, Ben is only viable in the mid to late game when paired together with Koleda. • Has a slow attack speed and movement speed.

Ben is a free Defense unit that can provide shields and buffs. Ben is also viable on teams with Koleda. However, his slow attack speed and movement speed are underwhelming.

This build maximizes the shield's HP that Ben provides and also buffs his ATK by increasing his DEF. Having Energy Regen on Ben is also important so that Ben can use their EX Special Attacks more frequently, increasing the uptime of their shields.

For Ben's Drive Discs, Swing Jazz increases their Energy Regen and also provides a DMG buff through their Chain Attack. The Soul Rock set simply increases Ben's DEF.

Koleda builds up Daze and stun enemies. Ben can also generate Daze and provide a shield to their allies. When an enemy is stunned, Soldier 11 uses all of her abilities to maximize her damage.

Spring Embrace is the Best for Ben

Spring Embrace is Ben's Best W-Engine as it increases their Energy Generation Rate when attacked by enemies. Note that when the effect is active, it also transfers to the character switching in. This increases Ben's supporting capabilities.

Shockstar Disco (4-pc) Swing Jazz (2-pc)	★★☆ - 2nd Best If you are using Ben as more of a stunner-type character, then equip 4 pieces of Shockstar Disco to increase his Impact and let their attack deal more Daze to enemies. Fill up the remaining slots with Swing Jazz to buff Ben's Energy Regen, allowing them to still use their Ex Special Skill and provide shields more frequently.

Dodge	★★★☆☆	Barely used by Ben in combat, so his Dodge is a low-priority upgrade.
Assist	★★★☆☆	There is no harm in raising Ben's Assist. But, upgrading it is a low-priority.
Special Attack	★★★★★	Upgrade Ben's Special Attack first since it increases the DMG and Daze of all of his Special Attack's variations. This is a top-priority upgrade since you will be using Ben's Special Attack variations frequently.
Chain Attack	★★★☆☆	A low-priority upgrade since you will barely use Ben's Ultimate. While you will be using Ben's Chain Attack, there's no urgent need to increase its damage.
Core Skill	★★★★★	Upgrading Ben's Core Skill buffs the shields that they provide to their allies. This should be upgraded together with Ben's Special Attack.

Ben's damage and buffs come from his Special Attacks, so you will want to upgrade it first. All other skills are medium priority, so choose upgrading his Chain Attack because his Ultimate multipliers are found there. Lastly, upgrade Ben's Core Skill whenever you can as it gives Ben better DEF to ATK conversion which he would appreciate as a Defense unit.

Core Passive - Guardian Ben's ATK increases with his DEF. He gains 40% of his DEF as ATK. When Ben launches a follow-up attack during his EX Special Attack, all squad members gain a Shield of 15% of his DEF + 100, lasting for 30s.
Additional Ability - Contractual Agreement When another character in your squad shares the same Attribute or Faction: While the Shield from Core Passive: Guardian is in effect, the character's CRIT Rate is increased by 16%.
Quick Assist - Joint Account When the on-field character is launched, press Assist to activate: Strikes enemies in front, dealing Fire DMG. Character is invulnerable during the attack.

While in the Blocking stance, Ben gains a Shield that weakens over time. After leaving the blocking stance, the Shield is removed and recovers over time. The Shield cannot exceed 16% of Ben's Max HP. Ben is invulnerable when activating Block. Anti-Interrupt level is increased while launching strikes.
EX Special Attack - Cashflow Counter With enough Energy, press Special Attack to activate: Ben lifts his weapon, blocking the enemy's attacks before unleashing a forward strike, dealing Fire DMG. Successfully blocking an attack enhances the power of this skill and triggers Block Counter, dealing massive Fire DMG. Hold Special Attack to remain in the Blocking stance. While in the Blocking stance, Ben gains a Shield that weakens over time. After leaving the blocking stance, the Shield is removed and recovers over time. The Shield cannot exceed 16% of Ben's Max HP. When this skill is activated, the Shield is restored to its maximum value. Special Attack Can Block Attacks

Ben's Special Attack can block an enemy's attack, which deals more damage compared to not blocking. You can hold down the Special Attack button for Ben to gain a shield that weakens over time and delay Ben's claw attack.

Ben's normal Special Attack will rarely be used in an actual fight. But, it is still good to know the difference between the two ways to activate it.

Ex Special Attack Can Provide Shields

Ben's Ex Special Attack works the same way as their normal Special Attack. However, Ben's Ex Special Attack deals more damage compared to the normal one.

Also, you can cast a Follow-up Attack that deals damage and also give a shield to allies. The shield's HP is based on Ben's DEF and upgrading their Core Skill further improves the shield!

How to Trigger the Follow-up Attack

When you press or hold the Special Attack button to activate Ben's Ex Special Attack, the Follow-up Attack can be activated.

Do note that you only have around two seconds to activate it. But, you do not need to hit an enemy for the shield effect to activate!

Additional Ability Provides CRIT Rate

If the Additional Ability of Ben's Core Skill is active, the shield Ben provides can also increase CRIT Rate. Do note that this effect will only activate if at least one member of the team is a Fire or a Belobog Heavy Industries character.

Ultimate Recovers Assist Points

Ben's Ultimate deals massive AoE damage and will also recover 3 Assist Points. While you will mainly be using your Main DPS's Ultimate, it can be used if ever you run out of Assist Points and you want to trigger Perfect Assists immediately!

Koleda Works Extremely Well with Ben

Ben does not have any abilities that rely on Koleda being on the same team. But, Koleda's Enhanced Basic Attacks, Special Attacks, and Ultimate will gain an additional mechanic where Ben does a Coordinated Attack with her.

M1	★★★★☆ - Great This upgrade reduces the blocked enemy's DMG when Ben uses his Special Attack variations. This is great whenever you are fighting bosses.
M2	★★★☆☆ - Good Ben's Special Attack variations will deal more damage if Ben has a lot of DEF. A good upgrade but not necessary for his gameplay since he will not be the team's DPS.
M4	★★☆☆☆ - Okay This upgrades the DMG of Ben's counter during his Special Attacks. Similar to Ben's C2, you do not typically use Ben as a damage dealer so this is also not an essential upgrade for Ben.
M6	★★★☆☆ - Good This upgrade increases the Daze inflicted on enemies when Ben uses certain attacks after casting their EX Special Attack. A good upgrade since it allows Ben to build up more Daze and eventually stun enemies.
