Stats determine an Agent's performance in combat in Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ). Learn more about what each Stat does, the difference between PEN Ratio and PEN Stats, and how to increase them in this guide!
List of Contents
Stats determine how well an Agent performs in combat. Each stat has a different effect, and their base amount can be increased through level up or by equipping gear like W-Engines and Drive Discs.
You can see more details about the Agent's stats by clicking on the "Basic Stats" button (with the Agent's Attribute and Attack Type) right next to their level.
Stat | Meaning |
---|---|
HP | Health Points are reduced each time the Agent takes damage. The Agent falls if their HP reaches 0 during combat. |
ATK | Increases the damage dealt by the Agent's attacks. |
DEF | Reduces the amount of damage received. The higher this stat is, the more the damage is reduced. |
Impact | Determines how fast the Agent can fill the Daze gauge of an enemy. |
CRIT Rate | Determines the chance of landing increased damage on each hit. |
CRIT DMG | Increases the damage of critical hits. |
PEN Ratio | The percentage of the target's DEF that will be ignored on each attack. Useful against enemies with high DEF stat. |
PEN | The flat amount of DEF that will be ignored on each attack. Useful against enemies with low DEF stat. |
Energy Regen | Shows how much Energy the Agent can generate automatically every second. |
Attribute Mastery | Increases the damage of Attribute Anomalies triggered by the Agent. |
Stat | Meaning |
---|---|
Energy Generation Rate | Increases the amount of Energy gained through attacks and normal Energy regen. |
Energy Limit | The maximum amount of Energy the Agent can obtain. |
Damage Bonus | Increases damage dealt from all sources by a percentage. |
Daze Bonus | Increases Daze buildup from attacks by a percentage. |
Anomaly Proficiency | Increases Anomaly buildup from Attribute attacks by a percentage. |
Both PEN Ratio and PEN stats ignore the target's DEF stat, thus increasing your damage output even higher. The difference is that one can be better than the other depending on the target's DEF.
PEN Ratio will ignore a percentage of the target's DEF. This means the tankier your enemy is, the more their DEF will be penetrated, making them squishier.
On the other hand, PEN will ignore a flat amount of the target's DEF. This stat works better than PEN Ratio against enemies with low DEF, as the reduction will be higher.
Amount Reduced from 200 DEF | Amount Reduced from 60 DEF | |
---|---|---|
40% PEN Ratio | 80 DEF | 24 DEF |
40 PEN | 40 DEF | 40 DEF |
The table above shows how much DEF will 40% PEN Ratio and 40 PEN penetrate from targets with 200 DEF and 60 DEF.
Both stats can stack with each other but the calculation is not yet confirmed, as in if the flat PEN shreds the target's DEF first before PEN Ratio takes effect or the other way around.
Leveling up your Agents using Investigator Logs also increase their HP, ATK, and DEF stats.
Equipping W-Engines onto Agents also increases their stats, depending onto their Base Stat and Advanced Stats. Players can also level them up as they would an Agent, and it may gain higher and more stats upon leveling up.
Each W-Engine has a passive effect that, depending on the effect, may further boost a character's stats.
Although they also provide boosts for HP, ATK, and DEF stats, Drive Discs also increase the other stats of your Agent. These gear also give bonuses should you equip 2 pieces or 4 pieces of the same set.
The substats that each Drive Disc provides are randomized, so you might need to grind to find the perfect set of Drive Discs for each Agent.

There is an error in this, anomaly proficiency and mastery have their effects reversed in this guide. I saw conflicting information all over the web but checking in game, I verified that anomaly proficiency is a % increase to anomaly damage, and mastery increases buildup rate.
