The Abbot

The quest starts in Ravensthorpe after pledging to Cent. This marks the beginning of The Instrument of The Ancients story arc.

The Abbot
Find and speak to Basim		 Travel to Saint Hadrian's Priory in Cent and approach Basim.

The Abbot
Follow Basim		 A short cutcene will play out after your walk with Basim.
Dialogue options during the cutscene are inconsequential to the story.

The Abbot
Reach Tonbridge Inn		 Ride south towards Tonnbridge Inn just outside its monastery.

The Abbot
Ask about the emissary		 Gather clues regarding the emissary's whereabouts by speaking to the locals.
TIPS:
You can finish this quest quickly by paying 165 silver to the person inside the house beside the stable.
You can attain this information from that same person for free if you have at least level three charisma.

The Abbot
Find and speak to the bard		 Head to the bridge located south of the inn and look for the bard.
TIP: Use Odin's Sight to determine his exact location.

The Abbot
Sober up the bard		 The bard is passed out somewhere under the bridge.
Carry him to the river and drop his body into the water to wake him up.

The Abbot
Speak to the bard		 Either pay the bard 165 silver or simply threaten him to get information about the emissary.

Find and get the message		 Travel to Dover Fortress and get King Aelfred's orders from the emissary.
You can either initiate a raid to fight through the fortress or sneak inside.
TIPS:
Use Odin's Sight to determine the exact location of the emissary inside Dover Fortress.
You can steal the orders from the emissary without killing him.
Approach the emissary from behind while crouched. A button prompt to steal the orders will pop up once within range.
