TOPS Organization of “Judges”
Krampus Compliance Authority, or simply Krampus, is a faction within TOPS, the largest and wealthiest conglomerate in all of New Eridu. Due to this reputation, many businesses under TOPS tend to veer toward illicit affairs.
In turn, it's because of this that the Krampus Compliance Authority was put into place. Comprised of auditors dubbed as Judges, they are responsible for keeping the companies under TOPS ethical and lawful by any means necessary, no matter how brutal.
Of course, no such crook would dare commit crimes with prominently watchful eyes, which is why Krampus also operates secretly, often taking on unsuspecting roles like customer service while keeping a close eye on companies who would dare break company rules.
Not to be Confused with Round Table
TOPS has two compliance departments: one being Krampus, and the other being Round Table, whose primary focus is the professional and business side of things.
When companies under TOPS underperform or do not meet their specific line of business, Round Table steps in to dish out their own sanctions.
Work ethics, however, are a different story. When these companies resort to underhanded and illicit methods to try and meet their quota, Krampus steps in to impose much heavier sanctions.
Etymology of Krampus Compliance Authority
In folklore, Krampus is the malevolent counterpart of Santa Claus (or Saint Nicholas) and is a goat-like horned being that punishes naughty children during the season of Christmas.
Stories of Krampus about capturing children with sacks or chains, or simply harming them with random objects like tree branches, have kept children from misbehaving for decades, and are normally prefaced by an eerie warning: “Here comes Krampus...”
The story of Krampus and their methods tie in perfectly with the nature of the Krampus Compliance Authority due to their duty of punishing misbehaving TOPS subsidiaries.
Has an Unnamed Boss
Apart from its key members, Krampus Compliance Authority also operates under an unnamed and unrevealed boss, whose direct orders go to Zhao first and are then disseminated to the entire organization.
Not much is known about this boss yet, other than the fact that she is female from the faction members' usage of she/her pronouns when referring to her.

Zhao is the Organization Supervisor
Zhao, though small in stature and adorable in appearance, is the supervisor of Krampus Compliance Authority and functions as its overall leader. Do not let her looks fool you, for she is as strict and brutal as any decisive auditor would be.
As the head of Krampus, anyone in TOPS who knows of Zhao's true identity quakes at the sight of her. Oftentimes, when she appears at a company's doorstep, it usually means that it has committed a mistake offensive enough to warrant her “sanctions”.
Dialyn is a Customer Service Representative
Dialyn, also known as Representative 2493, is a customer service representative at TOPS. However, unbeknownst to many, she is also a Judge of Krampus Compliance Authority, and often uses her phone operator job to mask this.
While most people would expect a customer service representative to be nice and adopt a “customer is always right” mindset, Dialyn does the exact opposite, albeit with an ironic smile and a sunny disposition.
When a customer is blatantly wrong or unreasonable, she is not afraid to fight back, stating that tolerating such behavior is “not part of her job description.”
Has the Ability to Hear the Dead
One notable thing about Dialyn is that she was born with an uncanny knack: she can hear the voices of the dead.
However, the way they come to her isn't gentle. Instead, they come as noisy and deafening cacophonies that muddle her thoughts. The worst part of it all, as Dialyn has put it herself, is that they don't respond to her queries.
This is also the reason why she enjoys her occupation as a customer service representative. No matter how venomous the complaint, customers always respond, whereas the dead can't seem to even hear her.
Dialyn's Origins
Dialyn originated from a seaside village near the Lemnian Hollow before it was swallowed by the Hollow disaster 11 years ago. She was an orphan, but was raised by the villagefolk, especially by one Auntie Fang.
However, all of the residents in this village were covered by an insurance of some kind, and certain TOPS executives did everything in their power to keep them there.
Having been coerced into making sacrifices into the Hollow for their own survival, Dialyn was chosen by the desperate townsfolk to be sacrificed as a “shell”, which led to her lifelong mission in exposing any and all “truths”, no matter the cost.
Was Sent on a Retrieval Mission
In the events of Version 2.5 and revealed in the Season 2 Chapter 5 story, On the Precipice of the Abyss, Dialyn was sent on a mission to retrieve a very important item carried by a specific target.
Her primary objective was to get close to the target without raising suspicion and retrieve the item by any means necessary.
This target carrying the item was described as a construct who has a very incriminating past regarding the massacre that happened at a humble mining village in the Lemnian Hollow 11 years ago.
Season 2 Chapter 5 Quest Guide
Banyue is the Newest Addition
It is unclear what Banyue's role will be in the Krampus Compliance Authority, but what is confirmed is that he is inducted into the faction with Dialyn's aid. Master Banyue was one of the main characters featured during the Season 2 Chapter 4 story, Memories of Dreams Bygone.
Banyue runs a small martial arts school in New Eridu and has his very own disciples, all of whom are trained with the strictest of discipline.
This surprised Phaethon during the Season 2 Chapter 5 story, On the Precipice of the Abyss, as Banyue is normally soft-spoken and gentle. But when his disciple, Ning Qian, disobeyed orders, he raised his voice for the first time.
Season 2 Chapter 4 Quest Guide
Purge Unit - Type Zero
11 years ago, TOPS created a line of machines with one objective and one objective only: Suppress Miasma at all costs." This line of machines was known as Purge Units - Type Zero.
For these machines, manslaughter was not off the table. If it meant suppressing the Miasma as they were programmed to do, then they would do so with neither fail nor remorse.
Banyue's Past as a Purge Unit
Banyue was sent to a mining village 11 years ago as the Lemnian Hollow began to arise. After successfully keeping the Miasma at bay, a moment of respite with the villagefolk allowed him to socialize with humans.
The entire village was grateful, to the point that though he could not physically taste food, they would prepare baskets of harvest for him. Some of the children would even offer him flowers.
It was at this moment that his programming started to shake. He began questioning whether or not suppressing Miasma “at all costs” was actually worth all of these innocent lives.
Guilt and Atonement
When the Lemnian Hollow massacred the village, only very few survivors managed to make it out. Since then, these survivors have been blaming Banyue for the village's destruction, calling him a monster or a killing machine.
As it turns out, it was less of Banyue actively committing mass murder, but more of his inaction when people were dying around him. As so many people were dying in such a short time, he could not save everyone, and he has since also blamed himself for it.
As atonement, despite knowing that being the source of Ether that the array needs to suppress Miasma will kill him, he agreed to do it anyway.
Resolution and Aftermath
As he was on his last legs after successfully suppressing the Miasma with the aid of Phaethon and the rest of the crew, Dialyn used her ability to have Banyue listen to the last words of the deceased.
Instead of a slew of accusations and condemnation, their last words were of gratitude and requests to protect their surviving loved ones.
In turn, this reminded Ye Shunguang that the one who saved her and her brother from the village's destruction was also none other than Banyue himself, who offered them up to the Yunkui Summit for another chance at life.
Banyue's Core was Dialyn's Target
In the Season 2 Chapter 5 story, it was revealed that Banyue's core was Dialyn's primary target all this time. Though it is still unclear what Krampus wants with it, instead of taking it outright, Dialyn had other plans.
Instead of ripping out his core, Dialyn reported to Zhao that she would invite Banyue to join the faction and have him actively use his core in alignment with its goals.
This also provides Banyue more opportunities for atonement, allowing Dialyn to hit several birds with one stone.
