How to Control Party Members

Story Progression Until They Get Access to Archetypes

Metaphor ReFantazio - Archetype Tree
Only party members with Archetypes can be controlled in battle. At the start of the story, you will only have control over the Protagonist and your allies will be controlled via AI input. Once they get access to Archetypes, you can then control your party members.

All Archetypes and Jobs

Guest Characters are Not Controllable by the Player

Characters without Archetypes are considered as Guest characters, where they will only be acting on their own and control over them is limited to Tactics commands.
