The Prologue of the game is what you get to experience in the Metaphor: ReFantazio Demo. If you have a save file of the Demo and you're playing the full game, you'll be able to skip the Prologue and head straight to the Mausoleum!

Tradia Desert and Grand Trad

Tradia Desert and Grand Trad Guide
1	Once the opening cutscene ends, and you drop down to the Tradia Desert, make your way to the marker on the mini-map.
2	After transitioning to the next area, run through the ribcage to grab some Medicinal Herbs. Afterwards, head towards the sand road to initiate a cutscene and enter Grand Trad.
3	Once you're in the Royal Capital, follow the quest marker to the next area. Unfortunately, you can't go inside any of the shops yet so you'll need to come back later.
4	Continue following the marker until you reach the recruitment centre on the left. Once inside, another cutscene will play and you'll be asked some questions and your name. Be careful when picking your responses during the interview as the second set of questions will dictate your starting stats. ▶ Character Stats Explained
5	After the interview, line up at the back of the line to get your starting equipment. Afterwards, a series of cutscenes will play until you're brought to the Nothern Border Fort. You also meet your first party member, Strohl, during this part of the story! ▶ Strohl Profile and Voice Actor

Northern Border Fort

Northern Border Fort Guide
1	The Northern Border Front is the first dungeon of the game. Once you're ready, head on in to initiate the Combat Tutorial. ▶ Battle System Explained
2	After the fight, explore the area to pick up any glowing blue items on the ground. Make sure you're also fighting every enemy you come across for EXP, Money, and MAG.
3	When you're ready to proceed, make your way to the top of the fort to fight the first boss, Homo Gorleo. The first phase is scripted, so just wait until the second part where you unlock the Seeker Archetype. ▶ How to Beat Homo Gorleo
4	Once the boss is defeated, you'll meet up with your contact, and second party member, Grius. After the next few cutscenes, go to sleep where you'll then meet your first follower, More. After leaving Akademeia, you'll wake up and head towards the Nord Mine to get back to the capital city.

Nord Mine

Nord Mine Guide
1	The area before the Nord Mines has a lot of enemies and items, so make sure to farm a bit and grab everything before proceeding forward. There's also a merchant here that sells you items. Don't be pressured to purchase anything right now since he will follow you to safe areas.
2	At the end of the area, you'll be ambushed by two State Army Soldiers. Make sure to Guard with the protagonist since they like to use Mage Fire and target the protagonist's Fire weakness.
3	After the fight, you'll be taken to a safe area where you can purchase items from the merchant and save the game. When you're ready, head into the mine. The next area is straightforward and you don't need to worry about the soldiers since you should be at a high enough level to defeat them without initiating Squad Combat. ▶ Nord Mines Dungeon Walkthrough
4	When you get to the next area, you'll be put into a boss battle against Captain Klinger. Strohl will also unlock the Warrior Archetype here, allowing you to directly control him in battle. ▶ How to Beat Captain Klinger
5	Once he's been beaten, you'll unlock Strohl and Gallica as followers, the Mage Archetype, and the ability to study and change your Archetypes. Make sure Grius, or one of your party members, has the Mage equipped since the enemies and bosses in the next area are weak to its spells. ▶ How to Change Archetypes
6	The next area has a lot of items and chests around, so make sure to grab everything that you see. Avoid the snakes first since the Mage can only hit its Ice weakness once it's levelled up a bit.
7	Deeper in the cave, you'll come across a safe area and the merchant. Heal up and save since you'll be facing the boss Homo Fulquilo next. Make sure to keep your Mage alive since this boss is weak to Ice! ▶ How to Beat Homo Fulquilo
8	After the fight, heal up since the next area has an optional boss fight against the sleeping Dragon Mauna. You can sneak past, but it's recommended to fight it so that you can get the powerful Dragon's Indignation Greatsword! ▶ Can You Fight the Dragon in Nord Mines?
9	Once you've snuck past or defeated the dragon, a cutscene will play that shows the cave collapsing. Run across the bridge and escape the mine so you can set up camp and sleep. Before sleeping, unequip every item from Grius as he will leave the party when you get back to the capital.

Return to Grand Trad

Return to Grand Trad Guide
1	After leaving the mine, the party will travel back to Grand Trad. When you control your character again, follow the marker until you reach the Hushed Honeybee Inn.
2	After a few cutscenes, you'll get to interact with Maria to unlock her as a follower and unlock the Healer Archetype. When you wake up the next day, you can head to the Akademeia to study and equip the Healer on the protagonist.
3	You'll now be able to visit the shops around town, so make sure you purchase any new equipment or supplies before heading to the funeral.
4	When you're ready, head to the cathedral to attend the funeral. After a long set of cutscenes, you will be put into a battle against five skeletons. It will be rough at the start since they get the advantage and Strohl will be affected with Anxiety, but the enemies go down easily thanks to the Healer's Light Skills and your multiple physical attacks.
5	After the fight, you'll have to follow Hulkenberg into the cathedral. Once inside, take the stairs on the right first to grab a treasure chest first, then head to the left to grab every other item. ▶ Hulkenberg Profile and Voice Actor
6	On the way up, you'll encounter a child stuck behind a bunch of bookcases. There will be an opening to the left that you need to go through the get to and rescue the kid. Make sure to grab the chest as well before proceeding forward.
7	Continue until you're outside and you meet back up with Hulkenberg. Follow the way upwards until you start a cutscene that sends you back out to the streets. Restock on supplies and heal back up before heading to the mausoleum behind the recruitment centre.
8	Before entering the mausoleum, make sure you have the Seeker equipped since the next boss is very weak to the Rider of the Blade Synthesis Skill, which is unlocked during the next fight. You can also bring a Healer with you, but it does less Light damage than the Seeker.
9	When you're ready, head on forward to confront your former ally turned undead, Grius. Hulkenberg will unlock her Knight Synthesis here, so use her and the Seeker to quickly take him down with heavy Light attacks. ▶ How to Beat Undead Grius
10	After the fight ends, a cutscene will play and Hulkenberg will join you as a party member and follower. After a few more cutscenes, you'll complete the prologue and unlock a bunch of new Side Quests and activities around Grand Trad! ▶ List of All Side Quest Walkthroughs
