Together with the fairy, Gallica, he embarks on a journey to lift the deadly curse placed on his childhood friend, the prince of Euchronia. He is a boy of the elda tribe, branded as a “tainted” people by the state religion who believe they have inherited dangerous and heretical magic. Being so rare among the populous, they are detested and discriminated against throughout the kingdom.

Not only a traveling companion, Gallica is the guide who helps the protagonist carry out his mission to save the prince. Although she is too small to participate in battles, her knowledge of magic and ability to sense magla is superior to the protagonist due to her fairy nature. She doesn't mince words, but she is a reassuring ally on his journey.

He is a young man of the clemar tribe who meets the protagonist in the recruitment centre for the State Army. A smart young man with a strong sense of justice, he hails from a noble family. And yet, it seems his circumstances are complicated, as it is rare for a noble to enlist in the army alongside commoners.

A knight of the roussainte tribe and former member of the royal family's Kingsguard who served by the prince's side. Despite her young age, she excelled in the use of various weaponry, and was assigned to the personal guard of the prince. But when the prince was attacked, she failed to protect him and set out to wander, carrying the stigma of this failure in her heart.

Juani Cygnus. A beautiful nidia songstress whose extraordinary voice is praised throughout the kingdom. She often appears at major yearly events held by the royal family and the Crown Theocracy. She is also tremendously popular outside the kingdom. Her cohabitation with Louis leads many to suspect they are lovers, though in reality, she's more of an adjutant.

Euphausia Etoreika. A young mustari woman revered as the sacred priestess in the mustari village on Virga Island. A central figure in the Dragon God religion many mustari believe in, she is entrusted with the divine relic, the lance Drakodios, which is said to represent the Dragon God itself. Though mustari are naturally adept at magic, her senses are especially keen in that her third eye allows her to clearly perceive the flow of magla.

Basilio Magnus. A high-ranking member of Louis's faction and one of his closest aides. Trusts his older brother Fidelio absolutely. The brawn half of the Magnus brother partnership, he's known as a nearly unstoppable bruiser on the battlefield when paired with his brother.

Arvid Grius. A veteran rhoag warrior and resistance member alongside the protagonist and Gallica. He infiltrated the ranks of the army and has been working as a covert operative. Gallica was entrusted with delivering secret orders to him.

Neuras Corax. A genius engineer of the Ishkia tribe, he can single-handedly manage all things gauntlet runners, from planning to maintenance to piloting, and was contracted to build the prince's gauntlet runner before the prince vanished. He comes from a noble, highly respected family with a stately mission in Grand Trad, but as he shows absolutely no interest in social status or family prestige, he is dismissed by his family as an unmanageable oddball.

A Clemar officer who is said to be one of the most outstanding figures in the royal army and has joined the ranks of royalty at an exceptionally young age. He possesses extraordinary skills as both a warrior and a magician, but what is even more highly regarded is his excellent intelligence and ability to win people over as a military strategist. He places great importance on rationality and adheres to a policy of appointing subordinates based solely on ability, regardless of race or origin. For this reason, he is sometimes criticized by senior officials for destroying tradition.

Characters with Archetypes are Playable

Only characters with Archetypes are playable in Metaphor: ReFantazio. Some characters can join the battle, but they won't be controllable until they unlock their initial Archetypes.

How to Control Party Members

Other Characters Serve as Followers

Other characters, such as More, will not join you in combat but will serve only as followers. Like Social Links and Confidants from the Persona series, you can bond with these followers to strengthen your Archetypes and even unlock more tiers as you spend more time with them!
