While there is only one true ending, you can unlock several different bad endings in Metaphor: ReFantazio depending on what choices you make in the game. Read on for the different endings that you can get in the game as well as how to unlock them.

Ending Requirements
True Ending Defeat the Final Boss at the Tyrant's Star
Fantasy is Dead Ending On 09/24, when asked by the voice in the Ancient Eldan Sanctum, choose "It came to nothing." → "It was all a mistake..." → "... Lies dead before me."
Fantasy is Ruined Ending During the conversation with Louis at the Skybound Avatar, select "...That's certainly true."
Fantasy is Only Fiction Ending Reply "I understand. You're right." in the conversation with More on 10/26

There are four total endings in Metaphor, one true ending and three bad endings. If you make a choices listed above during the story, you will get a bad ending and get a game over.

Note that if you get a game over, you will be sent back to the title screen and have to start over your last save.

True Ending Requirements

Defeat the Final Boss at the Tyrant's Star

Metaphor ReFantazio - Final Boss
If you want to get the true ending, all you need to do is defeat the final boss. As long as you don't pick any options that could lead you to the bad ending during the story events, you will automatically progress towards the true ending, so there is nothing special you need to do.

How to Get the True Ending

If you Clear the Trial of the Dragon Quest Line, You Will Get Special Dialogue from Neuras

Metaphor ReFantazio - Dragonslayer
If you clear the Trial of the Dragons Quest Line during your adventure, Neuras will have a few lines of text acknowledging that at the ending.

Fantasy is Dead Ending

On 09/24, after looking at the Prince's body, a scene will play where you talk to a mysterious voice in the Ancient Eldan Sanctum. If you choose the options "It came to nothing." → "It was all a mistake..." → "... Lies dead before me." in that order, you will get the Fantasy is Dead bad ending and the game will end here.

9th Month Walkthrough and Schedule Guide

Fantasy is Ruined Ending

If you reply with "...That's certainly true." to Louis during the conversation at the Skybound Avatar, which you can encounter by 10/25, you will instantly progress to the Fantasy is Ruined bad ending and the game will end here.

Fantasy is Only Fiction Ending

There is a scene in Shinjuku where you talk to More on 10/26. If you choose "I understand. You're right." you will receive the Fantasy is Only Fiction bad ending. Make sure to choose "I don't want to give up."

What Happens After the Bad Ending

Game Ends and You Will Be Taken Back to the Title Screen

If you choose or just happen to get the bad ending, the credits will roll and the game will end here, and you will be taken back to the title screen. You will be able to create a cleared save file to start a New Game Plus file.

There is no benefit to getting a bad ending, as you won't obtain a trophy nor rewards will be given . If you are simply curious about how the game will end, make sure to save your game before making your choice.
