Metaphor: ReFantazio gives you the ability to change your archetypes in the Akademeia. Read on to learn how to change Archetypes, how to unlock them, and more!
List of Contents
Ability | Rank | Description |
---|---|---|
Bright-Eyed Student | 1 | Allows the party to change between Archetypes once unlocked in Akademeia. |
To change Archetypes, you must progress through the prologue until you gain access to Akademeia, which unlocks specifically after defeating Homo Gorleo.
From there, you will eventually bond with More, and as part of his bond ranks, you'll unlock Bright-Eyed Student. Unlocking this Bond Ability allows you to change Archetypes in Akademeia, including for your party members.
Ability | Rank | Description |
---|---|---|
More's Magic Igniter | 2 | The Archetype Tree becomes accessible from the Main Menu |
You can also change Archetypes in the Main Menu under Equipment after unlocking More's second bond ability rank, More's Magic Igniter. This removes the need to visit Akademeia to change Archetypes and allows you to switch at any time.
However, keep in mind that you can only change to Archetypes you’ve studied. Additionally, you'll lose any inherited skills, but you can always reclass back to the previous Archetype with those skills to access them again.
Archetypes are special yet mysterious powers that grant you access to powerful skills in combat. The protagonist unlocks his first Archetype as early as the prologue, and you can unlock more as you progress through the story.
Each Archetype also has its own combat style, meaning that changing Archetypes gives you access to different weapons for use in both overworld and squad combat. This also provides access to quick physical skills like slash, strike, and pierce.
There are 14 base Archetypes in the game, and you can unlock classes within each lineage by bonding with Followers. There are also a few, such as the Prince Archetype, that can only be unlocked by progressing through the story.
