Can You Fight the Dragon in Nord Mines?

Fight After Getting Mage Archetype to Rank 2

Once you reach the sleeping dragon, your party will try their best to let you know that facing it should be avoided and could possibly lead to everyone's demise. However, players can take on the dragon with relative ease should they prepare beforehand.

Before pursuing the fire dragon, be sure to equip a character with the Mage Archetype and leveling it to rank 2 in order to obtain Blizz, in order to exploit its main weakness.

How to Beat the Dragon in Nord Mines

Exploit Its Weakness to Ice Attacks

Blizz will net you an extra Press Turn to do more damage or to heal up your party members if need be so make sure to hit its weakness!

Purchase Ice Chunks at the nord Mines Storehouse

If you do not have access to Blizz yet, you can purchase all 5 Ice Chunks from Gallinago the Peddler at the Nord Mines Storehouse, just before facing Fire Dragon Mauna

It costs 270 Reeves each and deals 100 Ice damage to one enemy. Using it on the sleeping dragon will net you a total of 500 damage on top of it providing extra turns!

Use Dei from Seeker to Heal

Fire Dragon Mauna is still able to knock you and your party members out so make sure to guard, or use Dei or other healing items to heal your HP back up if needed.

Dragon Targets Rows with Tail Swipe

The Fire Dragon can use Tail Swipe, which targets certain rows at a time. Make sure to guard if you are low health and heal afterwards, all while making sure your formations are in line with your offensive and defensive party members.

Nord Mines Dragon Rewards

Dragon's Indignation Sword

After you defeat the dragon, you will receive the Dragon's Indignation sword from the chest. Around the chest, you will also pick up a Grand Iron, Glossy Fur and Onyx.

Have the Sword Purified at a Church

While the Dragon's Indignation Sword is a strong weapon to have at this point in the game, it is highly recommended to have it purified at a church to further increase its power!
