Will is the canon name for the protagonist in Metaphor: ReFantazio, as it is the default name for the English, Japanese, Chinese, or Korean language. There are other default names for the Protagonist when switching to a different language in the game.
Feel free to choose any of the canon name variations if you want to use default names!

If you want to check the default name for the protagonist in every language, all you need to do is change the language. A notification will pop up after changing stating that the hero has been renamed to the languages default name.

You can name the main character anything you want, but knowing that this is a lengthy game, you may want to think it over first.
The name of the Protagonist doesn't change anything in the gameplay, but if you care about immersion, we suggest sticking to the default names given above.
The player will only be customizing the first name of the protagonist, as opposed to other Atlus titles where the player is given the first and last name to customize.
Keep in mind that there is a 10 character limit for naming the protagonist. Keep his name short and sweet to make the deciding process easier.
