Strengths
✓ Wide range of powerful Elemental Skills
✓ Strong Synthesis Skill synergy with other Magic Archetypes
✓ Back row doesn't lower the damage of Magic
Weakness
Can't target Slash/Pierce/Strike weaknesses
Gets outscaled by a late-game Strength build

A Magic build can utilize a lot of Elemental Skills to exploit weaknesses. Also, Magic Skills are unaffected by back row placement, meaning that your Elemental attacks will not have their damage output decreased.

However, the major drawbacks are that Magic builds can't effectively exploit physical weaknesses, and that they get out-damaged by a late-game Strength Build.

Magic Build Stat Priority

Stat Priority Rating
Strength ★☆☆☆☆
Magic ★★★★★
Endurance ★★★★☆
Agility ★★☆☆☆
Luck ★★☆☆☆

Increasing your Magic Stat will help increase the potency of all your magical attacks against enemies in battle. Overwhelm your opponents and expose their weakness with the Elemental Skills you have in your arsenal.

Additionally, raising the Endurance Stat can also help you tank some damage from enemy attacks which will enable you to retaliate with attacks of your own.

Best Basic Archetypes For Magic Build

Archetype Explanation
The Mage Archetype is one of the first Archetypes you acquire in the game. It has access to a variety of Magic Skills such as Bot, Blizz, and Kande that exploit enemy weakness in battle. You can also inherit Cyc from the Seeker Archetype so that your Mage Archetype can have access to elemental attacks excluding Light and Dark.
The Healer Archetype can best help you deal with enemies weak to Light, as it has access to Hama. It also has recovery skills that can help you survive an enemy fight.
The Masked Dancer Archetype can bypass Elemental Resistances by using one of its Dance Skills to grant an enemy a one-time weakness. They can also equip their signature Mask Accessories to grant them Skills from other Archetypes!

If you plan to run a Magic Build in the game, the top picks for the job are Mage, Healer, and Masked Dancer. All these Archetypes have access to different types of Magic Skills, enabling you to overpower enemies and take advantage of elemental weakness from your foes.

This is a general build that maximizes the damage output of Archetypes in the Mage Lineage. The Inhereted Skills can be flexibly changed depending on what Elements you'll need to defeat the enemies that you'll face.

Alternative accessory options are the Full Moon Medal for MP recovery, Mirror of Assiah to remove your Pierce weakness, or a Narcissus Brooch for a greater Magic stat bonus.

While the Healer Lineage is normally a more supportive Archetype, it can still pump out massive Light damage if needed. Since it's specialized in that one Skill-type, you'll want to Inherit Passive Skills that boost Magic damage and increase your MP pool for more casts.

Alternative accessory options are the Full Moon Medal for MP recovery, Mirror of Atziluth to remove your Dark weakness, or a Narcissus Brooch for a greater Magic stat bonus.

The Masked Dancer Lineage is incredibly flexible when it comes to its Skills, and can become a massive Magic casting threat when combined with their Dance Skills that forces a one-time Elemental weakness on an enemy.

As for the accessories, there are many Masks to choose from since they all grant different Skills from other Archetypes. It's best to just change Masks depending on what Skills you'll need and what enemies you'll face.

Decide on Inhereted Skills After the Mask

When it comes to the Inhereted Skills, it's best to choose Skills after deciding on a Mask since Masks essentially give an Archetype's entire Skill List to this Archetype Lineage.
